What's new

Chad Ford has us taking Exum at #5.

He's not a consensus top-4 player...at least if the "consensus" includes Dennis Lindsey, or some of the others who now say Vonleh is sneaking into that top group. DL said in an interview there is a top-3. Pretty sure he meant Embiid, Parker and Wiggins in that group; I don't see how else it could be interpreted. And if Exum can't play PG, I wouldn't be excited over having him be the pick. Jazz will likely re-sign Hayward and already have another helluva good SG in Burks, so the 2 is covered. If the margin between players is very small, which I think it is with Vonleh, Exum and Gordon, then you have to consider need. Gordon at SF is the best from a pure need standpoint. Vonleh fits because the Favors and Gobert can play the 5, leaving Vonleh to develop behind Enes at PF.

This is exactly what someone should say if they are worried their guy will be gone. "I SURE hope one of you guys don't take VONLEH. I think he is super swell. If we luck out and VONLEH is available we are taking him. So please don't pick him before us. "

I like Exum as a high-ceiling pick. If he busts, so what. At least we took a chance on a potential star. It's not like we are getting a star here via free agency.

Escum's shot is far from broke. I guarantee he shoots much higher than 65% free throws.

I honestly don't get how in this day and age that a basketball player good enough to play in the nba cannot hit 80% of their shots from the free throw line! my 12 year old hits 80% consistently.

I agree. If he's there you swing for the fences.

What amuses me the most about this draft is that it is supposedly one of the best drafts in ages, yet damn near every player out there has a ton of critics. It's odd.

Gordon has potential, but Exum doesn't?

Y'all are right, who wants the potential of a lightning quick, 6'6 PG?

Your 12-year-old son plays in NBA games? Impressive.

I agree. I think the Jazz have to swing for the fences with this pick, not play it safe. We can find middle of the road players in free agency. The draft is our only chance at a star. If Exum is available we have to take him.

How do you know he's lightning quick?

How do you know of his potential?

A draftx clip showed it?

Has anyone here seen actual game footage of Exum and not just highlight clips?

If he truly is the guy with the highest potential then go for it. I haven't seen him play really. In all the clips I've seen it looks like he's playing against a bunch of crappy DIV III players.

Boom Bitches would look like an athletic Serge Ibaka like freak against the stuffs Exum is playing against. The weak *** layups I've seen Exum put up would be swatted against 90 percent of the NBA.

Gordon and Smart? I have no question about their athleticism.
