What's new

Chad Ford Mock 4.0

Kelly and his Bon Jovi hairdo disgust me. At 21 you can't blame them for the pick though. It's got value there, and would be a good pick.
I think 95% of Jazzfanz would love this draft.

Hard to argue Barney at 21. I think most of us just don't like drafting a player that has a low ceiling, with little all star potential.

I like Olynyk as well. He's seven feet tall and good at basketball.

College production is a much better predictor of pro production than wingspan is. Besides, his reach is 9', which is fine for a PF, so I wish we could stop talking about his arms.

I don't understand why gonzaga's Luis scola at 21 is being criticized. More often than not guys drafted after 20 are out of the league after a few years. At the very worst, he is a serviceable backup with a koufus like career. Which is perfectly fine since kanter and favors should get the bulk of the mins over the next few years. If he ends up being like Luis scola, then we are going to have the best frontline in the entire league for years to come.

Olynk's standing reach of 9'0" is respectable. It is the same of Nick Collison's and ironically Marvin Williams.

Kelly Olynyk clearly the most skilled big man here. Looks like a guard with his handle and jumper. Measured just 6-10 wingspan vs 7-0 height

At 21 I doubt we could do better. And shooting 61% from the field is very impressive.

Skilled bigs are valuable too.

I still think Olynyk will end up playing a role like David Lee. Some pick and roll, some pick and pop, a bit of post play. His defense can't be as bad as Lee's.

Olynyk's length and athleticism compare well to David Lee. He might not have t-rex arms, but more likely narrow shoulders.

Yeah, and like Lee, he'll get undervalued at the draft and slip under the cracks... If I'm picking #17 - #20 and I can get him, that's a GREAT piece to have at that range.

Damn... there are heaps and heaps of value meals to be had in this draft. Not Kobe steak, but a good solid quarter pounder with cheese.

I am more worried about his defense.

If you already have your pivot, then he can come in in that Carl Landry / Paul Millsap role and give you scoring punches off the bench.

Serious question: Can he be worse than Tyler Hansborough?

Schroeder/Olynyk would be a fantastic draft.

Just as long as Jazz fans bring signs that say "CUT YOUR HAIR, KELLY!" every game until he does it.

If the jazz do this draft, do they get the award for hardest names to spell? Or does that automatically go to whoever takes the Greek freak?

To add to that, Olynyk's standing reach is 9'0 whereas Cody Zeller's standing reach is 8'10.

So Zeller is a whole 2 inches shorter and yet everyone raved about him at the Combine whereas Olynyk is the ugly duckling.

If Olynyk drops to #21 I'll take him with open arms.

Who knows, maybe those narrow shoulders are an advantage. He can slither through gaps that Favors and Kanter would get wedged in!
