Chad Ford Mock Draft 5.0

I am just not sure about the wisdom of taking on 3 guaranteed rookie contracts this year with the labor uncertainty and the promise of a stronger draft next year.

I'm starting to warm to Singleton a little bit. He has a proven skill (defending) that will definitely translate to the NBA.

I disagee with that. Over the years there were a lot of so-called "lockdown defenders" in college that didn't work out in the NBA, like Corey Brewer, Sean Williams, just to name a couple...

Some of you wouldn't mind filling our whole roster with 2011 draft picks it seems. Even 2 this year and potentially 2 next year hurts my head when you combine those with G and Favors.

Everything I'm reading says Toronto loves Knight. They pick at 5. If the Jazz want Knight, they have to take him at three. Simple as that. There will be no trading down unless they want someone else. I highly doubt a deal materializes with Cleveland to trade #4 for #3 either.

Yes - the only logical choice to trade down with is the Cavs assuming they pick Irving at no.1. Everyone else, you just don't know where they will go. But I agree, I don't see the Cavs move up one spot just to pick Kanter or Valanciunas. They probably will be able to snatch the guy they want up at No.4 anyway.

And Evans, potentially.

I love both those guys. I cant imagine what has you so down on those picks. Knight is a stud, singleton is a lockdown defender with range. had he not been injured this season he is a top 10 pick this year.

36% from 3 doesn't equal "range", IMO. I think he will be a solid player in the NBA but offensively he will be a liability and thats something I couldn't stand with Brewer. Singleton=Median income range mans Brewer.

I overheard a dude at a Bees game saying, "No, the Jazz only have two first round picks, both lottery, but none in the second round". I was thinking that this is a Jazz fan that's casually keeping up with the the draft news until I heard this....."The cool thing is, they have a couple more picks in the third and fourth round".

Beside the fact that this dude must talk sports out of his butt on a common basis, I honestly don't think fans do the math when it comes to an NBA roster.

Not a terrible idea, but I believe in Enes, so I'd stick. Who would I rather have between Knight or Biyombo and Brooks? Tough call, but I would probably go Knight there as well. As much as I think Knight isn't quite worthy of a 3 pick, I'm just not sure what else makes more sense (assuming you don't want Kanter).

Well Jimmer and Brooks are both 4 year college players. I would expect them to play effectively in their rookie years. Biyombo will take time. But he can be a 4th or 5th big man because he can play D and rebound.

My preferred option is to trade down and get 1st round picks next year.

and Evans. no way will KOC make three picks. i wouldn't be surprised if he only makes one.

A draft of Knight and Singleton isn't that bad... But it isn't that good either... I'm not really as high on Singleton as I used to be...

Singleton is an extremely boring pick. Burks, Donatas, Biyombo, and Jimmer all have excitement about them, where as Singleton is just going to come in and be a defender and will hopefully develop a reliable 3 point shot.

Marshon Brooks would have the most excitement among the list of those guys. Not to mention he easily won his matchup against Burks in their workout.

We need to stay away from Singleton IMO. I see Ronnie Brewer written all over him. If and when Favors develops into that defensive force down low, our perimeter defense won't look nearly as bad. We need a lights out shooter with that 12th pick more than anything.

If the Jazz are hell bent on Knight @3, I think best case scenario @ 12 is Byimbo. IMO he won't slide that far but if he does, or even gets close to 12, the Jazz should inquire about moving up a spot or 2.

Perimeter defenders that can't ht a shot are a dime-a-dozen. Might as well spend 500k to get a late 2nd rounder for Justin Holliday.

My point is I'm all about rolling the dice on a perimeter defender, but not above, say, 15 even in a bad draft. That's like burning a lottery pick on an undersized PF. They are available all over the board every single year.

Besides all of that, if we have to reach on a perimeter defender/intangibles guy, I'd rather have Jimmy Butler anyway.

A Knight-Biyombo draft would be a damn fine day's work, btw.

I don't dislike Singleton; but he's a career back-up.

Not a lottery pick.

Jazz have to aim higher.
