So let me preface this by saying that I believe that Chauncey is most likely to end up either back in Denver or New York, but if not, what about him running the point for the next 3 years? Assuming he would accept a reasonable deal I think he would be a good fit here-good game manager, can hit the 3 and he could be a good mentor to whoever our PG of the future might be.
Thoughts?
 
I think you may see Billups in LA or Miami next year.

Or maybe he'll stay in New York.

You won't see him in Utah.

I don't see the point in picking up a guy in his mid 30's to run the offense for a team that will most likely be going through a rebuilding year.

Better off giving PG minutes to Harris, who is still young, & a rookie PG (Knight, Walker - even Jimmer) who will most likely be one of Utah's top draft picks.
 
Why would he leave a big market that could contend and offer him the most money, for a small market rebuilding with limited cap flexibility?

Even if he wasn't crazy about Melo making this trade, so that means he's coming here?

Please, answer my question in your next post. Why would he leave a bigger market, better team, and more money to come to a smaller market, worse team, for less money?

I highly doubt he would come here but from everything I read and heard, he wasn't necessarily pleased with being traded. I think he wanted to take a Nuggets front office job after he finished playing with them.
 
Billups has a team-option - and I doubt the Knicks would want to pay him $14.2 million.

That said, no way I would want to sign a 35-year old PG like Billups. No longer a good defender and he can really slow down ball movement with his pounding dribble as he looks to attack. Rather stick with Harris.

I never said he wanted to come here, I was asking if people would like to see him here. If you read my first post I said im sure Denver or NYC would be his first choice. As for him not wanting to be traded when he was traded from Detroit he said multiple times how he wanted to finish his career in Denver its his hometown (or at least where he went to college).

So why would we want him here? He's old and will retire soon. We're young and in the rebuilding stage.

Dude, you're asking questions that you already know the answer to.

He's not coming here. And we don't want him here. Getting Billups does nothing for both parties. It's a LOSE LOSE situation.

I disagree, he is still an effective pg and he could provide several things next years team will need, namely a stable vet presence (bye bye raja?) as well as mentoring our pg of the future. Plus making the playoffs next year is not out of the question, doing so would be extremely beneficial for our young players and pay dividends in the future, i think chauncey helps us do that. Also if we sign Chauncey it gives us the opportunity to shop Harris, i seem to remember Dallas and Portland being interested in him at the deadline. Again, its just my thought, not saying Chauncey or the Jazz brass would be interested, but its something to think about
 
It's too bad the real NBA isn't anything like my favorite basketball video game of all-time, NBA 2K11. I traded away Memo, AK, and Bell for some 2011 draft picks and picked up both Irving and Knight and then traded away Harris and Millsap for Mayo and Gasol.
 
I too recall he was initially unhappy with being traded. If the Knicks want him back, their $$$ pro'ly talks loudest, given Billups' age. Highly unlikely he'd come here anyway; Watson is way more likely than Billups, and a better option than Price, IMO...
