What's new

Chicago Draft Combine 2011

Don't know if its been mentioned yet but I see that Scotty layden was addressing all the players before they warmed up.

Interesting because I saw a tweet that said Jimmer measured at 6'3/4" without shoes so I assumed they did that stuff today.

I think the Morris twins helped themselves today. Marcus worked out with the SF and Markeiff worked out the PF's. Both showed good range and looked smooth. I was "anti-Morris twin" until I read a scouting report on Marcus saying he is one of the few players that can shoot a turn around jumper over either shoulder. He was a SF in high school and only played PF at Kansas because they didn't have one.

This is nothing new. These 'kids' are being advised by agents, coaches, and others ... I'm certain they have all have full confidence to go through all the testing, but are heeding advice of their 'managers.'

This.

I mean the last thing anyone wants is for the hype to be proven wrong.

Anyone think Corbin's statement was a hint the Jazz might be interested in Klay Thompson, who received a 1-game suspension for trying to emulate Michael Beasley?
"Everybody makes some mistakes," the Jazz coach added, "but we put a lot of weight on the interview and the background stuff."

I'd be so excited if the Wolves took Kanter and left us Williams. With that pick, the Jazz might then go with Burks (if available) or Thompson at #12.
If Williams goes #2, I think the Jazz take Knight and then possibly Singleton.

chadfordinsider Turkey's Enes Kanter measured out well. 6' 9.75" in socks and 6' 11.25" in shoes with a good 7' 1.5" wing and a 9' 1.5" standing reach about an hour ago

His standing reach is basically the same as Favors or Al Jefferson. One inch bigger than Boozer. So he is an average sized center.

Derrick Williams was 6' 7.25" in socks and 6' 8.75" in shoes. He had a 7' 1.25" wingspan and a 9' 0" standing reach.

He is certainly big enough to play power forward. If he can play SF he will be a huge mismatch. For comparison Millsap's standing reach is 8'9.5" and Favors is 9'2".

Providence's Marshon Brooks had the biggest wingspan among guards with a crazy 7' 1" wingspan. He's longer than bothMorris twins

Kawhi Leonard had a huge 7' 3" wingspan and the biggest hands of anyone at the camp. But just 6' 7" in shoes.

Hmm those are good measurements for both guys.

A little undersized for PF. You want about half an inch more at least without shoes. Bigger shoes do not actually make up for his lack of height. He can still play the position though I am sure.
