Chicago can still race toward the bottom in a stacked draft class, get a haul for Jimmy B, and reboot fairly quickly.

Jimmy, Hay, and Rudy is a young and nasty Big 3. And Hill is the right guy to round them out.
 
They can probably get a much higher pick than we can give them (like Brooklyn's). Are you thinking something like Favors + Hood? That could do it.

Favors, Hood and a couple picks might get there. I think they'd ask for Gobert though.
 
People, people, this is a dream. Imagine Hill, Hayward, Butler, and Gobert. Just imagine that!
 
Im confused why they trade Butler. They are just going to fire Hoiberg and fire sale everyone else before they deal Jimmy.
 
I would do favors, hood and exum for him.

I just see no reason they do that. No chance at a super-star in that package. They are going to want a lottery pick. Boston is the only team IMO who can really make a fair offer for him. I think they are just leaking these rumors to get other teams to send offers to get Boston to deal both picks.

Chicago's dream scenario is clearly getting a decent offer from a team like Utah then parlaying that to pressure Boston. If that doesnt work, I'm sure they just dont do any deal. I just see no logical reason to deal Butler when it's clear EVERYTHING wrong with that team is the fault of the GM. Fire the GM and fire Hoiberg (because that relationship is probably past the point of recovery). Get rid of Rondo. Go from there.

getting butler on his long-term deal for anyone not named hayward or gobert would be a coup. exum, favors, hood, picks, all available IMO.

Lots of sense here, but that all adds up to 2 or 3 years of JB's prime where he has little chance of competing at the highest level. That's not a recipe for fixing what's broken. It also adds up to a declining asset. He's worth a lot right now.

In the OP I said that Chi SHOULD move him. I didn't say that they WOULD. They probably won't.
 
I agree if Chicago moves Butler it is for a rebuild and they are going to want young talent to rebuild around.

Exum, Lyles, hood maybe Burks are the young talents that would intrigue them. Favors I am not sure has that value but what do I know.

The draft picks the jazz have are not great either.
