I'm not fully versed in the issue, but while in Kentucky, I know that the UL campus picketed and called for a Chick-fil-a boycott .. next thing I saw was chick-fil-a restaurants everywhere in town PACKED with patrons. Whatever the boycott was about backfired, big time .. at least in Kentucky.
The owner/CEO of Chick Fil A , Mr. Cathy, said they support traditional marriage. Man and woman. The organization gives money in support of that. The mayors of Boston, Chicago and San Francisco wigged out and said Chik Fil A is not welcome in their cities. One side says is is about civil rights, the other freedom of speach and not fearing government repraisals for your stances.
So supporters of traditonal marriage and freedom of speach planned a Chik Fil A day.
Interesting story to say the least.

Have to admit, the guy walks the walk. I heard he pays a fortune to malls across the country that have Chick Fil A's so he can keep them closed on Sundays.
After listening to several interviews what I got from it was that it was more about free speech and not allowing one group to bully another because they disagreed with what they said or disagreed with their beliefs.
Tomorrow is "kiss in" day at all Chik-fil-a. It'll be interesting to see if gay supporters get anywhere near the same response/turnout as their opponents did on Wed. My guess is not. Plus, such an in your face display of gay affection may do more harm than good for their cause.

CFA's CEO told the public it is "arrogant" and "inviting God's judgment" for gay marriage. I'm for his free speech and for the free speech of those who disagree to boycott CFA. Politicians also are free to express their views, but when they say you can't build a store in my city, that's wrong.
It's more like he is foregoing revenue by having his store closed. He is paying the malls an lease that he pays whether he is open on Sunday or not.

PS So many people seem to be piggybacking this issue for political points. Whether it be the opportunistic mayors of certain cities or dumbass radio personalities (cough, Huckabee cough). I can't stand Huckabee. Dude is a empty box who thumps on the Bible nonstop. The dude reminds me of those millionaire pastors in Brazil who would swim in money by "casting out devils" on tv. Then again, can I really be angry with them when there are so many gullible people out there that fall for their crap?

Things may have changed over the years; but many malls (e.g. Simon Properties, which is big in the Northeast) would charge a higher lease or fine stores that are not open seven days a week

Dan Cathy's political leanings are nothing new. He's come out against abortion in the past as well and has donated money to pro-life groups and like-minded politicians.
I stopped eating there a little over a year ago because of this stuff. I guess some people like chicken more than they like equal rights. Personally, I'm already fat enough without stuffing a bunch of greasy, processed chicken down my gullet.
