Chokers

If Rudy is in you need to trust him! He was there to block that shot. Ingles and Rubio needed to stay attached.

Agreed. At worst you give up a contested 2 and have time to take a good shot to win or tie. Allowing that 3 was just a complete breakdown. Our guard play really failed down the stretch. Lots of casual TO's and mistakes that led to bad shots. And then the defensive breakdown.

It'll be a rollercoaster ride till the end. The fact that we are even disappointed by a loss at this point in the year is a blessing.

Come on guys... The Jazz win at historic levels for 2 months and half of you give up on the team because of 3 very tight loss against a very well coached teams. Popovich, Stevens, and Budenhozer are all great coaches who prepared well for us. They exposed some of our weaknesses like other teams have failed to do and that will either make us grow or shrink. My guess is that we will grow from it.

Also, we shot an average of 27% from 3 in the 3 games that we lost and we only lost by a cumulative 12 points including 1 overtime game. 17% against the Hawks and 27% against the Celtics. I mean... one or two more made shots and we win those games.

One thing is for sure. We rely on the 3 point shot. We need to shoot well to win games. We shot VERY well during our streak and VERY poorly during our losing streak. They aren't necessarily heavily contested shots because we move the ball well, but we just need to knock those down to succeed.

Not too high, not too low. We'll be Aight.

Y'all need to chill and enjoy the game rather than worrying about every win or loss. Brad Stevens beat us last night. It was pretty impressive to watch. They contained Rudy, contained Donovan, contained Ingles and made tough shots all night.

The Jazz aren't going to really contend until they add another All Star-caliber player.

Wild variances in three point shooting and how badly they can impact outcomes can be really irritating.

The Celtics shot 58% from 3. That's terrible luck on our end and in the vast majority of cases, it doesn't matter who you play, if a team shoots that well from 3 you're probably not winning.

The Jazz still had a great chance and made several mistakes, but if the Celtics don't have a freak anomaly night from the 3 point line, it would've been a double digit Jazz win (even though they had a terrible night from 3).

It would be one thing to lose with the Celts at full strength but they were definitely draining oil.

cmon man this happens. we beat them in Boston without Rudy too. Warriors lost to the lakers during 73-9 season as well. Spurs lost to the terrible knicks when they were contenders.

It's still NBA. All players are really good. Anything can happen unless it is 7 game series.

How about this take: The zone thing was a gimmick that paid off for Stevens, who had less to lose in this game than we did so went with a bold strategy. It's not a long-term solution or a way for teams to consistently best Utah.
Pretty sure a zone will be pretty effective long term against a team whose starting lineup has 1.5 reliable 3-point shooters, and uses tons of screens.

Rubio's had a nice season and Favors has improved his shooting, which is great, but I have to have at least an entire season of good 3-point shooting data to believe, and those two don't have it.

Those are losses because of either or some combination of:
-pure good/bad luck
-a great team taking the night off

While the Jazz aren't a great team, this also was anything but a game to sleep on. That's why I said it was the worst loss of the year (a combination of the playoff ramifications at this point in the season, being on national television, that the Jazz have every reason to want to thrash the Celtics on a personal level, and the Celtics were missing their [generally accepted] three best players).

The loss was really inexcusable. I couldn't tell you every reason it happened, but the Jazz should've won that game for every reason.

That being said, the Jazz are going to live and die by their ability to spread the floor. We've already seen it, and I continue to have serious concerns about this roster's ability to spread the floor consistently.

I believe Utah would have beat the Celtics at full strength. Having the top guys out often favors the underdogs because of the change in mental psyche of the team that is "supposed to win". To say that the Celtics squad out there would lose to a G-league team is just wrong, that was the nicest way I could say it.

I don't think the Jazz choked at the end of the game. They simply were lackadaisical throughout it, showing no energy or focus. I think some of them are very tired (like Mitchell, Ingles and Rubio), while others were just having a bad night (like Gobert). So, they just "went through the motions" – as Sloan would put it – and ended up losing to a team that played with more focus and energy.

Agreed, the Jazz had spurts where they tried and were successful and other times they looked horrible. I do think this team is tired and has a right to be tbh. It’s taken a lot to get here and now the pressure is on.

The pressure is especially on our 21 yo rookie who’s playing 40 minutes a night and game 76 for the first time in his life....while also leading the team in scoring and having the weight of the offense on his shoulders in the biggest moments.....let that kid grow.

I understand he’s put a pretty high standard on himself. Give this team a few breaks on slip ups. If you feel too pissed off over a loss take a deep breath and just remember how amazing #45 is going to be, how early he is in his career, how young he is, and how laughable looking back on these games will be once he’s there.
