Chris Duhon?

"A league source said the Bulls have held internal discussions about bringing back free agent Chris Duhon as a third guard."

I know this isn't a team changer. But Duhon was a very effective back up point guard for the Bulls. But when given big minutes he seemed to not be able to handle it. He is more of a pass first point guard than Price. If the Bulls want to bring him back as the 3rd point guard. Don't you think that he would rather be the back up point guard instead?

We could probably get him relatively cheap and I think he fits the Jazz system. Let Gaines go or sign Gaines and trade Price in whatever package trade we come up with this summer.

Never would happen.
1. Probably too expensive to only play 10 minutes per game behind Deron.
2. Good defender who can penetrate and get a team into their offense, but a dreadful perimeter shooter, so not someone you could play as a combo-guard with Deron.
3. It's no secret among writers from Chicago/NY as well as NBA personel that Duhon seriously loves big cities and the night-life, and even if the Jazz were interested I doubt he would ever consider Utah.

Don't think he is worth the money? He doesn't have a contract.......And the bulls are looking at him as a 3rd point guard? We would be looking at him as a 2nd point guard. How do you know how much he will get paid? I mean do you honestly think the Bulls would pay more than 2 Million a year fora 3rd string?
To me that is not expensive for what he provides.

vslice02: You said he is dreadful outside shooter but he is a lot better than Price.

Look at the percentages of his shots? mostly 3 pointers.

Price is a lot worse at the 3 point line.

The biggest difference between Price and Duhon in my opinion is Duhon is not out of control when getting into the paint. Price is. Patience and letting things develop is what a real PG does. Deron is a master at it. That is why his speed is so deceptive. The best Point guards master that. Nash isn't even quick but he goes past players all the time. Price will never learn to be patient. He goes a Million miles an hour when the pick and roll happens or driving into the lane. No way to set up your teammates that way.
Someone like Duhon would keep our offense solid when Deron goes out.

Duhon obviously would be an upgrade over Price because unlike Ronnie, Duhon is a natural PG. But he'll sign in Chicago for $2 million to play with LeBron before he signs in Utah for $3 million. And he wouldn't be "3rd-string in Chicago" he'd be their "3rd-guard" or first guard off the bench behind Derek Rose.

Forget his on-court abiilty, this is the dealbreaker:

I would have much rather seen the Jazz draft Randle in the 2nd round and brought him in to challenge for the backup spot.

That makes sense. I guess you are right about him being the 2nd guy off the bench. But the thing is why would the report say other wise? Maybe they don't view him as the 2nd option and will look for somebody better.

I feel like the Jazz purposely have been wasting 2nd round draft picks for a couple years now. It seems like we know they won't be on the team.

By "3rd guard", I think they mean starting PG Rose (#1), starting SG FA (#2), then Duhon off the bench (#3).
I agree with you about our last couple 2nd-round picks. Maybe they see Jeremy Evans as a Bryon Russell-type project (Russell played PF in college) but I don't think there's any chance he makes it past training camp.

Probably correct unless they are bringing Pargo back? I just never have heard anyone use that term in basketball. 3rd guard off the bench and meaning PG & SG's? kind of odd.

Our 2nd round pick was horrible. Maybe we are looking at a project. But honestly if we don't sign him to a contract than we failed. Because we know exactly who he is as a player. And if we expect him to develop before training camp than we are crazy. He better have lots of potential and we plan on keeping him. Other wise we should of traded the pick.
