What's new

Chris Paul

It's funny to see how far Paul has fallen the last few years. 2 years into their respective careers, the NBA and it's fans had Paul annointed the next greatest PG in the league and D-Will a step below him. Nice to see that since Deron's tough rookie year, he's kept his head down, his mouth shut, and worked his *** of to become a better player. Seems like Paul has done the exact opposite during that time.

Dare I say Deron has had better support from ownership, management and the coaching staff?
Tyson Chandler was a big loss for them, as was Rasual Butler. Add to that the decling play of Posey and Stojakovic. The addition of Emeka and Thornton isn't enough to offset. They certainly ain't what they used to be.

By contrast, I think Gail and Greg really stepped up to the plate. Jazz could have easily let Millsap got to Portland in order to stay under the tax threshold. And this season's moves...wow. What a job to stay, IMO, AT LEAST equal to last season (and hopefully better).

Do ya think New Orleans regrets signing Mo Pete to that long deal now?

"He could have been the greatest the sport has ever known. But then, in a dramatic feat of cowardice, he wussed out, abandoned a city in need and moved on to greener, glitzier pastures...That's LeBron James, right? Scum of the earth, spineless thug who turned his back on Cleveland, history and tradition. He took the easy way out, and everyone from your mailman to Michael Jordan has spent this summer detailing how his name now isn't worth dirt among honorable men, real men, men who make a difference in this world.

Actually, I meant Chris Paul, who has told the Hornets he wants out...let's get to what matters: morals and common decency. This strident a trade request, with teams specified, is not in the least about granting the Hornets flexibility, or any silver lining. In both tone and content, it drives Paul's value down...If you thought Dan Gilbert and Comic Sans were a menace; just wait till George Shinn breaks out the spiked bat and hellhounds."

Curious title, though: "If Chris Paul Leaves, Do We Hate Him?" Like they anybuddy who don't hate her sorry *** already? Yeah, right, eh?

Paul being a follower and not a leader.

Monkey see, monkey do.

Now the real question is, Las Vegas or Seattle Hornets????

Yeah, 'cause Paul could have been the greatest the sport has ever known. Seriously, I can't believe it but your posts are in a greater downward spiral than you've ever known.

And whoever that Shoals moron is should realize that:

a) Paul's had the balls to say he wants out and isn't stringing the Hornets along
b) Paul hasn't called the networks to promote "The Decision 2"
c) Paul isn't a hometown boy like Lebron who Benedict Arnolded out of town
d) Paul isn't a complete, self-promoting, transparent douche

Dude needs to cram a sock in his mouth, a tampon in his ***, and shut the **** up.

Chris Paul is a ****ing puss and ****ing retarded beyond that. It astounds me how seemingly little players understand how the CBA works.

Here's a snippet of a good article that I posted over in the Jazz forum too... but thought it would be relevant here since the article is all about Paul.

In Paul’s earliest days with Team USA, officials preferred Deron Williams to him because they believed Williams was far more his own man. No one liked the way Paul was so eager to follow James, Carmelo Anthony and Dwyane Wade. These changes haven’t come overnight with Paul, but over time. James, Carter and Wesley embarked on a long, orchestrated campaign to work Paul over, unfasten him from past loyalties and trusts, and transform him into a creation of their own.

Yeah he's acting like a jerk about it, but lets face it the backup carried that team most of the season and they don't have any big men for him to give the ball to aside from Marcus Thorton. He's going to the Knicks if he goes anywhere. I'd be interested to see what they have to move to get him in the Big Apple.

Ya mean to say "punk-*** bitch," Duck. True dat. Course we already knowwed dat anyways, so, like, what else is new, eh?

...I have no problem whatsoever with what Lebron did.....I do have a problem with what Paul is trying to do! Lebron played out his contract, became an unrestricted free agent. Paul is still under contract. He's trying to welch on his deal for purely selfish reasons. He's a punk.

funny to think that just a few years ago I was reading complaints about Worldwide Wes and his unduly influence on high school recruiting with his connections to shoe companies and stuff like that - - guess he's moved on to bigger fish.

Well, I have a problem with that whole TV special. But I agree with your statement. Lebron played out his contract - and so did Wade and Bosh. They had the right to go seek employment elsewhere. What Paul is doing is an embarassment to the league. He's skirting league rules (and a big fine) by having his "people" demand a trade since he is prohibited from saying anything publicly.

This is why I will always be a Jazz fan. Yea, Karl complained yearly about being underappreciated and underpaid. And we had the teary AK incident. But by and large, the Jazz have always looked to keep players who want to play in Utah and have accommodated those who have wanted to go elsewhere. I'm really looking forward to this season. To a man, I think EVERY player is happy to be on the Jazz. And I don't see one who is concerned more about his stats over the success of the team. Now I could possibly see AK and CJ wanting a lot of touches, and maybe CJ being upset if Sloan goes with AK/Bell. But I think that will be minor - if it even comes up.

A report is now saying that Lebron James was the one that convinced CP3 to demand the trade. I am starting to feel like Lebron James is doing more harm to the NBA than good.

Portland 103, New Orleans 96
I don't know what's going on with Chris Paul(notes).
Portland should be the story here. There might not be a better story in this league right now. The Blazers have overcome everything and a half to be on pace for 47 wins as they enter the All-Star break. Fifty victories could really be on the horizon, and the emergence of LaMarcus Aldridge(notes) as a franchise-level stud (finally playing up to that potential) has been one of the real treats of 2010-11.
Usually Chris Paul, when he's healthy, is among those treats. But what started as a dominant stretch for three quarters, followed by a strange habit of taking fourth quarters off, has now stretched out for entire games at a time. And what was once an MVP candidate has now reduced himself (whether by attitude, ennui, bum knees or combination of all three) to be the sort of guy who puts up only eight points and nearly as many turnovers (four) as assists (five) in a close game against a team fighting for playoff seeding with Paul's Hornets.
Fourteen points and nine assists for Paul in the month of February. Not too bad, but not commensurate with his gifts. CP3 has hit just 17 of his last 54 shots, and that's spread out over five games. This isn't a man who should be taking fewer than 11 shots a night, regardless of NOLA's slow pace, and making just over three of those attempts on average. And it's not like he's tearing it up in the assist department, at just under eight a game.
Chris doesn't have many people to pass to, as the Hornets are either made up of -- looking past David West(notes), of course -- players who need the ball to score, or players who shouldn't have the ball at all. But this is where Paul would seem to want to take his exceedingly good scoring traits and put them to work. Instead, he's coasting. And it's not right. His fans and his team deserve better. I can understand the Hornets' swoon -- this was a limited rotation even with Emeka Okafor(notes) around -- but there's no excuse for this sort of play.
Portland will take it. Nate McMillan's team came through with 68 points combined in the first and fourth quarters, as Wesley Matthews(notes) and Aldridge combined for 58. Nearly 129 points per 100 possessions overall for PDX, a remarkable figure considering the Hornets may have been the NBA's best defensive team in the first month of the season.
