Chris Singleton > or = Derrick Williams?

Wow. I try to avoid threads started by Da!$#%$#%@!#$!$@!#%!$!cutt. Now I remember why. My only surprise was that it's not a very bad trade thread where the only obvious effect is screwing the Jazz for years.

This thread reminds me of the old advertising campaign . . . "This is crack. This is your brain on crack. Any questions?"

Singleton just declared himself Modern Day Scottie Pippen. Cocky or confident?

If that's true, the no.12 pick is way worth it.
I like Singleton and think he could be a very solid role-player in this league for a long time, but just because you say you're the next Scottie Pippen doesn't really mean much.

Leonard > Singleton

Expound on this comparison, I am curious to hear your reasoning. PS we have history with very tall, very defensive 2-guards with poor perimeter shooting.

IMHO I believe Chris Singleton will be a better pro prospect than Derrick Williams because he can create off the dribble and can defend better then anyone coming out off this draft at least 4 positions. Therefore Singleton will be a better small forward and Derrick Williams will be a power forward stuck in a small forwards body a little longer version of Paul Millsap with a better shot kind of like Jeff Green. So I say hope someone drafts Derrick Williams before the 3rd pick so we can draft Chris Singleton with our 12th pick.

Thoughts?
I'll give you +1 just for having the courage to come up with something no one else has claimed and back it up. Who knows, you could be right. The knock on Derriick is that he is a tweener, not big enough to be a PF and not able to play SF. If that's the case, IF (and that's a big IF) he can't be an effective SF, then he becomes the next Marvin Williams, a nice player, but not worth the #2 pick. Singleton already has the ability to play great defense and block shots. If he can add just a little bit of a mid-range game, he's a bonafide starter.

I don't agree with your position...Williams is the player I hope the Jazz draft. But I also wouldn't be disappointed with Kanter/Singleton, or Knight at #3 if KOC really believes in him. KOC did a pretty good job of choosing our last PG.

Last years consensus #2 pick, and possible #1 pick leading up to the draft was Evan Turner. He looks at least currently to be a total bust. Funny thing with this draft is that every player could be a bust for where they are taken. Chris Singleton with his length and athleticism could end up being the best SF in this draft, but then again so could DWilliams. It is such a crap shoot.

The one thing I will give DWilliams is that he believes his hype and is a total personality. Guys like that usually have a drive to be great, so I believe he will will himself to greatness or at least very goodness.

I think in 4-5 years any one of the top 4 or 5 players could be the top player coming out of this draft.

Is anyone else the slightest bit worried that Singleton's defense was a result of Florida State's outstanding defensive system?

Is anyone not projecting Singleton very highly because of his offensive ouput, even though the Seminoles have one of the worst offenses in the NCAA??

Answer to both is yes to some extent, but from what ive seen its more common for a player to improve offensively after college than defensively. So it must be taken with a grain of salt; his athletic ability to rack in serious amounts of blocks and steals are usually defensive signs that dont flow with offense, so you never know really. Besides, I feel like Singleton winning the ACC defensive player of the year last year merits him some good brownie points, and shows that perhaps his more than an average player following his very good defensive system. Personally I'm not the least bit worried, but I wouldnt be absolutely shell-shocked if Singleton isnt the next great defensive SF

Cheer up Jazz fans - # 3 pick means either Kanter or Williams and to me that's like picking between Brooklyn Decker and Gisele Bundchen

Everything so far tells me Kanter is not just another soft Euro

And this tweener talk with Williams for the birds. The kid is a stone cold scorer - and an efficient one at that. Just watch him for 5 minutes and you can tell it's in his blood. Worst case scenario he's instant offense off the bench. Best case he's another Carmelo Anthony.

As far as PG is concerned - whatever. Harris and Jefferson both come off the books in two years. That's almost 24 mil in expiring contracts between the two of them. Jazz will have plenty of leverage to upgrade via a trade or free agency - all while the core young players Favors, Hayward, Kanter/Williams and next year's lottery pick will ALL still be under rookie contracts and most likely coming into their own.

I'll be enjoying this ride up until June 23.
