What's new

Colin Cowherd ESPN on the Jazz

Not extending or offering a new contract is not "firing". We didn't "fire" Al Jefferson or Paul Milsap.

That's a different situation though. It's been planned all along that we'd either let them walk or trade him.

There's been no indication of neither of that with Ty.

How do people not get this yet?

Can you guys elaborate on why you think this?

I find myself agreeing with a lot of his opinions on things. For example, today he spent the day talking about what a dumbass incognito is and how the delay in response by the dolphins is a reflection on how poorly they are ran.

He also talked about the pacers and the defense is for the team. He talked about the lakers mess and how he wishes they would just tank it instead of heading in te direction they are headed.

Then he have credit to the jazz for their master plan.

He also criticized ESPN for their idiocy in ranking the chiefs at #1 and thinks thy aren't as special as others do and thinks they'll be limited overall. He talked about how the 49ers (my team) were still a very good team and their loss Sunday is more about the loss of Davis and lack of vertical weapons than the team "sucks"

I guess I just think he is reasonable and I think he's entertaining while doing it. What do you think he's saying just to get attention or hits?

If the Jazz wanted to keep Ty, there would have been a contract extension offer prior to the season beginning. I do not think they intend to keep him.

Because it was pretty well publicized that they did not. He was even interviewed about it, as was Dennis.

Ok I missed that. What did Dennis say? "I'm sorry Ty, I couldn't offer you an extension - but keep coaching hard for us this year ok?"

Dennis Lindsey made it publicly clear that he had a talk with Ty about the direction they were going with this season (i.e., to tank). He said Ty was most accepting of the fact and situation.

It's hard to believe Lindsey would then turn around at the end of the season and simply "fire" him.

I'm pretty sure Lindsey wouldn't just come out be like, "Now listen, Corbin is a terrible coach, but we want him to stay the year so we do even worse."
Yeah sure he talked to Ty and made sure he was ok tanking, that doesn't mean he's getting a job next year.

It would make no sense to tell him to "keep coaching hard" because he's never started. Maybe he asked him to "keep hardly coaching."
