What's new

College Basketball '14-15......

Do we need to start a "Pray For Cy" thread?
Somehow I knew all those Otto Porter threads were just a desperate cry for help.

Wow, I guess Missouri might be bad this year....but I didn't know their record going into that Kentucky game....so I wasn't expecting a 50 gap when I looked at the scores tonight. Looks like Duke is going down again. ESPN is going to have to extend their coach K to 1000 wins watch into another week - I'm sure they are devastated.

thinking about googling that term.. Going incognito, brb.

dat stock market lingo seeping in doe

Who do you think wins that Duke/Louisville game on Sat?

I don't think Duke's guards can handle UL's dribble penetration or pressure defense. No doubt K will be READY and I don't recall Duke EVER dropping three in a row.. So should be a great game.

UL - 71
Duke - 68

Coach K needs to adjust his defensive strategy...but he probably won't.

What is his defensive strategy?
Weird.. Cuz I generally consider him best coach at any level, but his offense needs an overhaul as well.. Jacking up 3s is what every fanbase considers the offense.. Not nearly enough feeding the post.

They have been feeding the post a lot, but Okafor has been getting doubled and not handling them that well, and guys aren't making open shots off his passes. Winslow and Suliamon are really the only guys that can drive to the hoop, and they aren't consistent yet. They scored 74 against Miami, that should be enough to win.

Anyways, he's playing tight, high ball pressure with Tyus Jones and Quinn Cook, neither of whom are very good at defense. That leaves an average post defender in Okafor to try to help, and typically results in an open shot. He's been doing it for years. Sometimes it works, but not anymore, IMO.

Gotcha. Thanks for the analysis. Will tell a lot about your team against UL. They have a great defense, but pretty bad offense. Kind of the opposite of Duke, imo. We'll see how well K game plans. I think K is a much better in-game coach than Pitino with Pitino (when he feels like it) a better game planner/a bit more adaptive.

Why were Utes only 4.5 pt favorites? They've annihilated every spread this year.

Great question.. makes no sense..
I would only guess that there is a "Utah is fools gold" thing going on.

I think Utah is legit. I am sold. Let's redo '98.

Are UK and Utah the top point differential teams?
