What's new

College Football *2015*

BYU fans: 4 star defensive back out of San Marcos CA, Troy Warner, who was being recruited by Oregon, Notre Dame, UCLA and Stanford, among others like ASU, Arizona, Cal, Utah and UW, just committed to BYU.

Fantastic finishes, national recognition, and elite freshman QBs 1; nut punches 0; in regard to what really matters.

What I find funny is that BYU has won by two lucky plays against two mediocre teams.

What makes them think they win the next game?

So, as high and puffed up as BYU fan is right now, how low and pissy and hating everyone are they going to be Saturday night?

I just can't handle that emotional rollercoaster you guys live on.

All fired up protecting a douchebag on your team that lacks serious self control, pounding your chest over beating a Nebraska team that hasn't been great in a long, long time (but as been great more recently than BYU, ha ha) and beating a Boise St team that struggled against a Washington team that isn't projected to make a bowl game.

If I were you, I'd be more worried about being boat raced this Saturday and wondering if I can beat Michigan in two weeks. You are so far away from an undefeated season, even further from a New Year's Bowl, and have little to no chance of a playoff....

So, BYU fans, you are wrong with your defense of the nut puncher, any rational human will agree with me. Let's talk some real football.

How do you think this weekend goes for you? How do you think you match up vs UCLA?

Let's face it BYU fan. You've played very mediocre this year. How do you beat UCLA? You gave up 297 yards passing to Boise and made a terrible passing QB look very, very good vs Nebraska.

What happens when you face UCLA and Chosen Rosen?

Enjoy your gloating. It will end very soon.

green, you're funny. All that, and I imagine most BYU fans agree with your general point that the they probably aren't that good. I don't think BYU is a very good team. They lost their top running back, who was going to be in the conversation as the best ever. They lost their senior QB, one one the best athletes they've ever had. They are missing their best defensive player for the next 5 weeks. I expect them to lose to UCLA by at least two TDs.

Having said that, are we not supposed to enjoy our successes? Should we not celebrate a big get in recruiting or all the national recognition? It's not like we're going to the ute thread and gloating about it.

The big difference is that we are talking about it in the appropriate thread, we're not going to the ute thread and ripping the utes like so many ute fans are doing here or gloating about the success in the ute thread.

Just so funny how you guys can't get over BYU. Check out my posts and foj's posts in the ute thread. Very respectful and the contrast to what ute fans are doing here is stark.

A. I have yet to see a byu fan predict a victory against ucla. I think we lose by around 20 points.

B. If you read this thread you will find that almost every byu fan thought that the nut punch was horrible and we (byu fans) think he should have been suspended. The governing body that hands out suspensions didn't think so though.

Where do you get these ideas from that are so incorrect?

Again, who is saying that byu has played awesome? Have you seen byu fans posting about going undefeated and winning a national championship? I sure haven't.

I think byu has played decent and gotten lucky twice and this weekend the luck probably runs out.

We have a freshman at qb for God's sake. Byu fans are not cocky at the moment. If anything we are cautiously optimistic.

Gloating and beating our chests lol. That is simply something happening in your head. It's make believe. Come back to reality

I posted my response to green at the exact same time as SJF and hadn't seen his response yet. Our thoughts on byu team and season so far and expectations are almost identical.

We both think byu is not that good and has been lucky and will lose big to ucla.

Green is very very delusional...... Like usual when it comes to local college football

Just checked the Vegas line for byu vs ucla.
Ucla is favored by 17
That's about right I think

It's going to be interesting to see how Mangum handles the offense when the splash plays are taken away. Can BYU sustain a drive a few yards at a time? We're about to find out how much of Mangum is hype.

I think mangum will be very good. He has an nfl arm in terms of arm strength and is smart...... But with no running game and being a freshman I think it's too much to ask for him to go on the road against a top ten team and get a win.

I don't think the ucla game is the end all of whether or not mangum is good or not. The sample size is too small to determine anything

This is the appropriate thread for BYU homerism? Can't BYU fans afford a thread of their own? .

Two of the most recent posts by BYU fans in this thread are two guys saying BYU isn't that good and that they will be blown out by UCLA. I don't think homerism means what you think it means.

Some ute fans want so bad for BYU fans to be jerks or arrogant or homers, that when they don't have enough actual ammo, they will make **** up to appease their view.

I wasn't talking about getting a w. Can he get first downs? Will he take care of the ball or force things that aren't there?

What I've seen of him thus far is a dude that's forcing things that are barely there. If he's as good as you guys think he is we should see something shine through. Is it the last word on Mangum; No, but I think it's more relevant than what we've seen so far. I think these are the kinda games you find out who a player is.

On the flip side I don't think Fresno St is going to tell us much about Thompson or if O-line adjustments are working.(see Fresno's last game) As a Ute fan I still will feel fairly blind heading into Oregon.

That should be our biggest worry, IMO. The offense just hasn't shown it can sustain long drives on a consistent basis. If a defense is disciplined and committed to it, it's just too easy to take away the long ball.

I think he will shows signs of great things to come. And I think he will make some bad mistakes.
Imo he will be really really good as early as next season. Maybe by the end of this season (it helps that he has a very good group of receivers and the o-line is pass blocking well)

As for the utes.... I don't know what to think about them. I thought (and still think) that this is their best pac12 team yet. I love booker, think Wilson is adequate, like the o-line, love every part of the defense and think that the special teams should be the best in the country (though they have not lived up to my hype for them)
Utes biggest weakness is the receiver group imo. (Just happens to be the strongest position at byu strangely)

Then I watched the Michigan game and was left underwhelmed. (I thought Utah would win by 20+) but that was only the first game and it was kind of a weird first game and the game didn't really seem as close as the score..... Kinda.

Then I was sitting around a campfire listening to the utah vs usu game on headphones (half *** listening anyway) and couldn't believe the score was tied at halftime. Then they shut down usu in the second half.

I figure they beat Fresno by about 40 and then I will still have no idea how they might fare against ucla, usc, arizona, and oregon. (Not sure they even play all those teams, but you get my drift)

Fish, you're not a typical BYU fan. You're normal.

Second, 20 pages of BYU football player nut grabbing in the college football thread isn't exactly an appropriate place. Start a BYU thread. It's common courtesy. Utah has their own thread. There are a lot of misguided people who sadly root for BYU around here. Start your own thread. Let this thread be about College Football. You guys came into this thread and took over. It's kind of ridiculous and has basically ruined this thread.

Lol. You act like BYU fans are the only people posting about BYU in this thread. Read the posts, for crying out loud. Half of them are ute fans discussing BYU and the nut punch. Fish said you're delusional and you're making it really hard to disagree.

Gotta love UCLA and Utah fans calling BYU dirty.
