What does "accept his 6th man role" mean? Is it that he is a jolly good sport in the locker room even though he doesnt start? What is there to accept in playing near zero defense hero ball while getting the most minutes?

Last 5 games he leads the 4 main guards in minutes, is 2nd in FGA, last in assists, last in stocks, last in rebounds, has the most turnovers and on top of that is 3/21 from 3 point range. Not to mention that out of those 13 assists which isnt great to begin with, 8 came in one game (@WAS) and in the 3 losses he has 1 assists per loss.

He literally was better. Better decissionmaker, willing passer, cut down on the "dribble until you get trapped" TOs. He is now back to playing 1vs5 basketball. When he touches the ball the offensive possession is over for the others.

Sexton does that occasionally as well, but Clarkson has more NBA games and gets paid more than Colllin, Dunn and George combined, and still has the biggest negative impact of those 4.

Clarkson is also playing a large majority of his minutes with a rookie PG...

Clarkson plays most of his minutes with Keyonte. It's not a surprise he struggles.

He's only played 90 minutes with Dunn, a player he would theoretically benefit from, and is a +14.8 in those minutes per 100.

Huh?

Clarkson isn't an off ball player. Everything he does, good or bad, starts (and usually ends) with handling the basketball.

And Keyonte can't hand the rock to JC fast enough when they cross midcourt. He's by far the biggest Clarkson enabler on the team.

I bet Clarkson absolutely loves playing with Key for this very reason.

None of what you said negates the fact that playing the large majority of your minutes with a rookie PG is going to make you worse.

That's true for most players, but Clarkson is a ballhog ball-dominant SG who doesnt't really even interact with his PG that much. He just does what he does when he gets the rock. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Im not sure how you cant see the point.

Clarkson is a good player who has bad tendencies, one of which is being too ball dominant, which is more easily enabled playing with a rookie.....

Compare it to his best time as a Jazz man was playing off guys like Ingles or Conley where he could mix his on/off ball play.
 
Lauri is taller, but I still think Sexton is actually our best player. He is always in go mode on both sides of the ball. He is able to create his own shot (rare) and is willing to shoot or pass on every play. It is always about the team with him and he will give everything he has for the team. He is tenacious. He never really has bad games. My only criticism of him is that sometimes he lets himself get stuck in traffic inside. Lauri is extremely skilled, but usually has to be set up by teammates and get help with spacing.

Yeah, it's not really close. Lauri is far better.
 
Sled pushing is probably one of the top, if not the very best exercise for injury prevention for basketball.

I agree with this assessment for this season. I see a sense in urgency to win from sexton. Not as much from Lauri. However I think the season means two different things to these players.
I admire what seems to be sextons approach
