Well all our guards had good games going, so it was likely gonna be a pretty even timeshare game, with JC getting some extra minutes and Dunn giving up some, like it has been. So he would have ended up somewhere around 23 without those two.

I went to check and the mini sub in 3rd was likely to scold him for leaving Beasley alone to "help" on Giannis. I didnt see Sexton signal anything, but Bucks were rolling and Sexton gave their best 3PT shooter a wide open corner 3, so Hardy probably wanted to remind him of his defensive priorities.

Sexton makes more defensive *mistakes* than anyone on the team.

Clarkson is the least capable defender and gives the lowest effort.

Collins is just being asked to play a defensive scheme that doesnt really work for him at all.

So I get Hardy being extra hard on Sexton because the stuff he messes up on are the most fixable.

Lol went to check the tape and was just writing my reply mentioning that same thing. :)
 
I don't know if yesterday was the best example of Hardy being hard on Sexton, all the guards were playing well. But he definitely has a short leash on him and done some odd things like playing him in garbage time. Methinks Hardy is personally more tilted towards THT....but Sexton has been undeniable to some extend. Good for him, he's playing extremely well.

I kinda thought this could be the case before the season, but it would be a very good think for the franchise to just let Sexton let loose and play a ton of minutes. He's not the idea player to build around, but this team is kind of ideal for him to put up numbers. He could be putting up massive numbers with more minutes. I wouldn't give him more minutes at the expense of Keyonte, however. This would be something to think about if we're looking to trade JC. JC is definitely the guy Hardy favors the most.

The real question is do you still think Sexton sucks, has a terrible contract and nobody would want him?

I'm only cool with it cuz Sexton is and welcomes being coached hard. JC had some horrific effort and mistakes the game prior and I don't think Hardy even looked at him. I'd rather it not affect playing time... like don't yank him unless you have to. Just yell at him in time out unless he messes it up multiple times in a row.

Maybe Hardy is really cracking down on his guards taking too many shots? That seems to be the main reason THT is no longer playing.

From what I can recall he was pulled once in the 3rd after overhelping in the zone (IIRC) giving up a corner three to Middleton (or something). Not sure how long he sat for, I think it was a really short stint.

There is literally at least one point in every game I watch where Sexton falls hard enough to have put Mike Conley out for a month.
 
Listening to 1280 on the way home from work just now and they had done jazz beat person (tony Jones or Andy Larsen I'm sure) who said that sexton is the hardest working basketball player that he has ever been around

Andy Larsen said that Sexton works harder than any NBA player he has been around. He said he loves being in the gym, loves basketball and just truly wants to be great. He said he’s been in SLC this summer working with Jazz coaches because a that’s what he truly thinks he needs to do to become better.

This was my post from June. Andy said it on a podcast.

Sexton seems to have a greater desire to improve than 99% of NBA player's. Reminds me of Kobe and Malone who went to extremes to improve themselves and their game. Just had that drive.
