Welcome to Colton's 2013 Mock Draft Compilation, v. 2.0. Here are who the mock drafts are listing as the "best players". See below for details. It should give a pretty good idea of who will be available when the Jazz pick at 14 and 21.

1 Nerlens Noel
2 Ben McLemore
3 Otto Porter
4 Victor Oladipo
5 Anthony Bennett
6 Alex Len
7 Trey Burke
8 C.J. McCollum
8 Michael Carter-Williams
10 Cody Zeller
11 Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
12 Steven Adams
13 Shabazz Muhammad
14 Shane Larkin
15 Dennis Schroeder
16 Kelly Olynyk
16 Rudy Gobert
18 Gorgui Dieng
19 Mason Plumlee
20 Jamaal Franklin
21 Sergey Karasev
22 Giannis Adetokunbo
23 Tony Mitchell
24 Lucas Nogueira
25 Tony Snell
26 Allen Crabbe
27 Jeff Withey
28 Archie Goodwin
29 Tim Hardaway Jr.
30 Dario Saric*

*Probably withdrawing, but not all mocks show that yet. Will go higher if he stays in.

On the first round bubble: Reggie Bullock, Ricky Ledo, Glen Rice Jr., Isaiah Canaan, Livio Jean-Charles

Misc observations:

1. 9/18 drafts have the Jazz picking Schroeder at #14.

2. At #14, the highest ranked player the Jazz could hope to get is Caldwell-Pope (8/18 mock drafts have him being available).

3. Even though Larkin is ranked higher than Scroeder in my compilation, only 4/18 have the Jazz picking Larkin at #14.

4. 7/18 drafts think Larkin will still be available at #21

5. Aside from Larkin, Jamaal Franklin is about the highest ranked player the Jazz could hope to get at #21 (10/18 drafts have him available)

6. Karasev will likely be gone before #21 (only 6/18 have him available there), even though that's his spot in my compilation, but the Jazz have a good chance to get any of the people listed below him.

7. There's absolutely no consensus about who the Jazz will pick at #21. The most common guess is Tony Mitchell, but that's only 3/18 drafts.

Ranking details: I used the following mock drafts as "voters" for the best players. That is, I assumed they ranked the players in the order that they felt like the players deserved to be drafted. (This is an incorrect assumption, because some mock drafts account for perceived team need, but it should be close.) Then I used the "instant run-off voting" algorithm in a program I wrote to deduce who deserved to be ranked in the top spot, then in the second spot, then in the third spot, and so forth. See here for details on that algorithm: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instant-runoff_voting

Chad Ford Jun 4

If there are mocks you'd like me to include next time, please let me know. And if/when a new Chad Ford mock appears, I'd appreciate if someone could PM me it.

Schroeder has been falling pretty heavily over the past couple of weeks due to a few bad workouts. I still think he's got plenty of talent at #14 spot. Does he have to mature & improve a few things? Of course. But I don't think there's any player with more upside than him at #14.

If we can get him there, I think he could potentially be one of the steals of this draft.

Burke was talked about at #1, down to 7 now. Those three point guards at 7-8-9 just seem too low, one of them has to move up on draft night.

If there are really 25 teams trying to trade their picks, as Chad Ford says, all of the mocks could be wrong as teams buying in are targeting specific players.

Didn't Ledo work out for the Bucks (#15, 43) today against Bullock? Interesting.

Bullock and Rice Jr. should both be 1st round.

Shabazz is most likely to go top 8. Mocks are still underestimating him a bit, imo.

Reggie Bullock should also make the first round.

I think that's about right though. I mean, who would drop out of that top #6?

I still expect someone to take a punt on Bazz/KCP in the top #10, ala Terrence Ross last year. This move won't be in any of the mocks, it will be a blindside move.

so, a couple of you like Shabazz. I'm not seeing it. At all. Not even a little bit. Not even a teenie, weenie, lil bit. I don't even know if he's gonna cut it in the NBA.

I'll go one step further. I think he's washed out of the NBA when his rookie contract is up.

I'm thinking a poor man's Micheal Beasley.

Too harsh? Maybe. But, I have zero interest in drafting him. I'd pass on him easily if he were on the board at #14. Let some other team take the low shooting percentage guy, who can only dribble one direction, and is more prone to shoot than pass with 5 men sagging in on him.

Just the opposite of everything I'd want in a player. What are you folks seeing in him that I'm not?

I see a guy who could be a solid offensive player if he buys into a team concept. He's got some of the traits of a young James Harden, both good and bad, but at the swing position. I think he'll be okay, not great, like a Caron Butler after a few seasons. I have to say though, I'm more intrigued by Giannis' versatility.

Noted.

I'm thinking a rich man's Michael Beasley.
