Welcome to Colton's 2014 Mock Draft Compilation, v. 3.0. 22 mock drafts used! (See below for details.) Here are who the mock drafts are listing as the "best players". See below for details. It should give a pretty good idea of who will be available when the Jazz pick at 5, 23 and 35. This is the final version!

1 Andrew Wiggins
2 Jabari Parker
3 Dante Exum
4 Joel Embiid
5 Noah Vonleh
6 Marcus Smart
7 Julius Randle
7 Aaron Gordon
9 Doug McDermott
10 Nik Stauskas
11 Elfrid Payton
12 Gary Harris
13 Dario Saric
14 James Young
15 Zach LaVine
16 Adreian Payne
17 Rodney Hood
18 Jusuf Nurkic
19 T.J. Warren
19 Kyle Anderson
21 Tyler Ennis
21 Shabazz Napier

Misc observations:

1. 12 of the 22 mocks have Wiggens going #1. 9 have Wiggens going #2. And one has him going #3.

2. 9 of the 22 mocks have Parker going #1. 13 have him going #2. None have Parker lower than #2.

3. 11 of the 22 have Exum going #3. 9 have him going #4.

4. 17 of the 22 have us taking Vonleh at #5. 1 has us picking Randle, and 4 have us picking Gordon.

5. 7 of the 22 mocks think Embiid will still be on the board at #5, but no one thinks the Jazz will pick him there. And no one has Embiid falling past #7.

6. The highest ranked player any mock draft has available at #23 is McDermott. One mock actually thinks he'll be available then (I doubt it!). Some highly ranked players that many mocks think will be available there include Nurkic (7 drafts have him available at #23), Anderson (7 mocks), and Napier (8 mocks).

7. The highest ranked player any mock draft has available at #35 is Payton. Some highly ranked players that many mocks think will be available there include Clakson (7 drafts have him available at #35), Adams (6 mocks), and McGary (6 mocks).

8. Elfrid Payton wins the wild card award, with his projections being anywhere from #8 to second round. Zach LeVine is the runner up, with his projections being anywhere from #8 to #27.

Ranking details: I used the following mock drafts as "voters" for the best players. That is, I assumed they ranked the players in the order that they felt like the players deserved to be drafted. (This is an incorrect assumption, because some mock drafts account for perceived team need, but it should be close.) Then I used the "instant run-off voting" algorithm in a program I wrote to deduce who deserved to be ranked in the top spot, then in the second spot, then in the third spot, and so forth. See here for details on that algorithm: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instant-runoff_voting

changes for v.3: I added five more mocks and updated a bunch, using Jun 20 as the cut-off for which drafts I included.

Love it.

I've been talking about these 3 players ad naseum in the the draft thread for most of 2014.

Theres some newer stuff coming out on Walter Tavares in the past 48 hours, he had a workout at Seton Hall that was viewed by Cleveland, Houston, LAL, New Orleans, BKN, NYK, Orlando, Phil, Por, Tor, Wash. The articles written about the workout are saying hes 7'2 or 7'3 without shoes and 7'4 with them. Today he measured a 7'10" wingspan.

Looks like Vonleh will be the pick: what a disappointment. More often than not DX and Nbadraft.net predict early picks well. Vonleh is one of these guys you would not select based on performance, but more so on measurements. Favors was like that too, and he had even better frame than Noah. Besides, we already have Favors. He developed into a solid guy, but I don't want to spend 5th pick on someone who may one day develop into poor man's Favors, when other options are available.

Marcus Smart is a lot more proven, has absolutely insane stats, Paul George-esque, best player on the team, a leader, great size for a PG. Granted he is a year older than Noah, but he was more of a difference maker in the first year too. Why not take a guy like that over a role player in bad NCAA team, even if he does have long arms (which he could not use to separate himself in NCAA)?

I don't like Smart and Burke in the backcourt together. If we drafted Smart and moved Burke, I wouldn't be disappointed.

It's all about getting assets. We already have a pair of top 3 picks too in front court. If both Burke and Smart develop into great players, it will be easy to move one of them. And if Smart becomes a star who puts up Paul George type of performances and gets to the line a lot, who cares about Burke?

So at #5 and #23 we got the players who were valued at #3 and #17 according to the draft boards. Certainly encouraging.
I'm too lazy to check them all, but does Caboclo appear in ANY? He's not in the top-60 in cbssports or draftexpress. Don't know about the others.

He didn't make my own radar screen. That means that none of the 22 mocks had him going at pick 35 or before.
