Colton's Mock Draft Compilation, v. 8.0

Cleveland - Williams
Minny - TRADE - Team X takes Irving
Utah - Knight
Cleveland - YIKES! They desperately wnated a PG and outfoxed themselves.

Therefore:
Cleveland - Irving
Minny - Williams
Utah - Knight
Cleveland - Kanter

...Or Cleveland would just take Walker if they want a PG.

I agree. I think this is what Cavs should do and then Jazz take Irving over Knight.
Who Jazz should take at #12 is another matter.

Irving at 3 Montiejunas at 12-- perfect.

But it will never happen. Cleveland is going to take Irving and Jonas Valancunias. Kanter falls to Washington.

Colton's combined mock draft has Donatas Motiejunas at 12. Knowing how O'conner likes bigs, he may use it on Donatas. I believe he will be better than Okur ever was, has a bigger variety of shots and is very good in the pick and roll. Would we want a better Okur type player with our 12th pick. He would have to add the weight to bang inside for rebounds like Okur could in his prime, but this guy can score with either hand ala Boozer close to the basket except he uses mostly hook shots. He can play both the center and power forward position, is 7 ft. tall and weighs about 225 lbs. Use Okur's expiring contract in a trade and have Donatas take his spot, then use the Golden State pick next year to round out our roster. He has the potential to be a starter down the road, which is better than taking a career roll player with the pick.

12. Utah Jazz: Donatas Motiejunas, C, Benetton Treviso
Even though he is older and doesn’t have as much upside as Valanciunas, I believe Motiejunas will have the better pro career. He has solid basketball athleticism and will be a good jump shooting big. Motiejunas doesn’t get to the rim a whole lot, but his niche with the jumper gives him the potential of becoming an elite pick and pop option.

NBA Comparison: Andrea Bargnani

Strengths:
Versatile lefty bigman with a high ceiling ... Has a lot of potential due to his size, agility and offensive development ... A finesse 4-man with excellent versatility, but shows the toughness to play inside with contact ... Shows a strong ability to run the floor and change directions, start and stop ... Has great legs (strong) and feet (quick) ... Has inside/outside ability with the ability to defend inside and play with his back to the basket, as well as knock down shots on the perimeter ... His outside shot has both range and consistency, and he has begun to develop some excellent moves including a jump hook, a turnaround fadeaway as well as fakes to draw opponents off their feet and excellent footwork ... Shows a competitive fire. He has a strong desire to win and improve, he just needs to show that at all times ... Gets off the floor quickly and has solid explosiveness ... A solid shot blocker ... Comfortable handling the ball when necessary to break the press and has solid vision and passing ability ... Has a very good body and appears that he will be able to add upperbody strength and become a solid rebounder and interior post player at the NBA level ...

Weaknesses:
Is extremely talented and he knows it. At times he doesn't keep the pedal to the metal, exhibiting some lapses in focus and intensity (laziness) in practices ... Sometimes appears content to be better than others without dominating them the way he's capable ... That's the type of thing that he'll need to mature out of, learning to work hard at all times in order to reach the stature of a Gasol or Nowitzki ... Still needs to add polish on his moves on the perimeter but has excellent potential to do so ... Has thin arms and upperbody, although he has solid strength. He'll need to get stronger to contend with NBA bigs ... Solid length (6-11 wingspan) but nothing extraordinary ... Not as experienced or established as other European talents (such as Gasol or Nowitzki) were when they entered the NBA.

Wow. Motiejunas falls to 12? That would be hard to pass up. Over the past two years he's at times been a top 5 pick. Wow. Bargnani at 12 is hard to pass up. You could trade him and get a lot more in return than a guy like Singleton would ever haul in.

Biyombo might fall there too. I love the draft.

Give me Singleton over Motiejunas any day. Lockdown wing defenders like him just aren't common. He's not polished offensively but he's a capable shooter. Think of a more athletic Bruce Bowen. Euro projects like Motiejunas are a dime-a-dozen. Good skill level but are soft and play no D. I'll pass. I'd take several others before him (Burks, Jimmer, Morris twins, Hamilton). I don't think he has better value in a trade either.

Bargnani is so gross though. Sure he was the #1 pick, but Raps fans hate him with a passion.

Please tell me Motiejunas is a better rebounder at least.

thanks for the compilation Colton, seems like a lot of work...

I'm not sure if this is the same as something you've already included, but it seems to be different - - it's from Hoopsworld but it includes 5 different analysts mock drafts

https://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=19873

In addition to our weekly updated 2 Round Mock Draft, HOOPSWORLD also offers a weekly Consensus Mock Draft.

The idea here is a look from five different points of view, from reporters that cover five entirely different market types. Each week we'll show you how the Draft looks from each reporters' perspective as well as weekly notes and comments throughout the draft process.

So without further ado, here is the 2011 Consensus Mock Draft 3.0

Agree. Jazz were very, very good when AK was healthy and concentrating on defense while the others scored. I remember the 12-1 start when McLeod was the floor general, I believe. It all started with defense and everyone running the floor. Singleton is a poor man's AK who probably develops a better offensive game. There are a lot of high scoring SF's in the league. If we think Singleton can stop them, he's my choice at #12.

I just choked on my breakfast. Sure, AK's shot hasn't been good, but I'll happily eat a piece of **** if Singleton develops equal playmaking abilities.

I don't understand the desire to draft a PG with our 3rd pick?! Assuming that Irving goes to Cleveland, we take the best of either Kanter or Williams. If we take Knight I'll be pissed. He's not a team changer like Rose or Paul. There are a lot of decent PG's in the league and the draft right now. No need to use such a high pick on such a common commodity. It's been discussed here at length that you don't need an all-star PG to field a championship team.

Regarding the 12th pick, I'm torn. I like the idea of a lock-down defending wing like Singleton but if we draft Williams do we really need him? With Hayward at the 2 and Williams at the 3 Singleton will get spot minutes. He'll be vastly under utilized.

No. If they draft Williams, I doubt Singleton would be considered at #12. More likely they'd look at SG/PG at that spot. Jimmer would probably be in play at #12 if the Jazz got Williams.
