Comparison of two 19 year old NBA rookies

Player A turned 19 in the December of his rookie year. He played all 82 games that season. He averaged 32.6 minutes per game that season.
Player B has played 2/3's of an NBA season. His stats have been extrapolated to show what they would be had he played 32.3 minutes per game.
(I had no calculator and the 32.3 mpg was much easier to round to.)

not to be a downer but its not a fair comparison. favors isnt going up against starters but I do like what i see from the kid.
 
Howard is a total anomaly. Physically, he's easily the most impressive guy in the NBA. Centers that come out as raw as Howard was and turn into superstars are a couple times per decade, at most.
 
Howard was actually good enough to play 32 minutes while Favors isn't. Howard has proven he is a monster while Favors has the potential to be one, he isn't Dwight Howard.
 
Howard is physically a superb athlete; quick, strong, fast. Favors appears more in control and calm than Howard, who whines to refs way too much. Favors does have a nice-looking jump shot; Howard to this day still does not. Favors actually moves a lot like Lew Alcindor (now Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) did when he first came up, only Favors appears stronger. Both move calmly and deliberately; very much under control.
I don't 'get' why NJ didn't play Favors more; I expect him to get more PT with the Jazz, as he's way more productive than Elson or Fesenko, even not knowing our system yet.

Howard shot his best % as a rookie, I believe. Favors has a more natural release on his shot and should continue to improve his FT shooting, not the other way around. And yes, we won't see another Dwight Howard for a long, long, time but Favors is about as close as I have seen as far as possessing the same physical tools.

Who did Orlando have?

Saying that Favors isn't good enough to play 32 minutes is completely unfair.

In New Jersey, he had Brooke Lopez in front of him.

In Utah, he has Al Jefferson and Millsap in front of him.

If we didn't have Al, there's no reason to believe that he wouldn't be our starting center playing 30+ minutes.
 
Right now Favors is the Jazz franchise player.
Jazz future as a contender will depend on him.
He has the skills and ability to be a top ten type player.
 
Favors will be a forced to be reckoned with in a few years. Watch. After all, this is the one guy I wanted the Jazz to pickup from this past year's draft. I know all about talent.

I don't know I would put Griffin up against Howard as the top freak of nature physically we have seen in a long time if not ever. But yes, Favors does not have the same athleticism of Howard, although Favors is very very athletic.

I hope he never ever becomes the nicest guy on the court that takes 7 years to show any kind of offensive skill whatsoever.

Dwight Howard is great. He's worth every penny he makes, but let's not talk about him like he's Kareem or Bill Russell. Favors could actually be better by having a more well-rounded game and a more subdued, even-keeled temperament. Of course, he'll probably not be as good, but we're talking about the youngest kid in the league right now and with measurements that rival Dwight's. The sky's the limit as far as I'm concerned.
