I don't care where they argue. My point is if she's the President and has the Final Say (as this interview has confirmed), she wouldn't have let some of the things that Jim Buss did slide.
Like when they hired Mike D'Antoni over Phil Jackson.. haha.. I mean, c'mon now. That was one of the worst decision they've made. She said in the interview that she wasn't down with it but again, she let it slide obviously because Jim Buss is her brother. And now she's trying to put a brave face on the whole situation and come on TV to defend the decision?
C'mon now, who is she fooling?
The things I remember is her saying that she doesn't believe she's an expert at constructing an NBA team, that's why she let Kupchack and Jim Buss do what they thought was right.
She said she looks at the result and has offered a timeline of 3 years from now for whatever thresholds have to be broken by then. She said she pushed the timeline because she thinks it's bad to blame Mitch and Jim for Kobe and Nash getting injured.
Of course she's the responsible person for what's happening on the floor, she didn't deny that. She also said she doesn't agree with certain decisions but as a professional she wants to be hands off in these situations(unlike that Knicks owner punk).
And you know I outlined possible scenarios for them to return to respectability over the next 2 summers, which would be 1 year before her deadline she talked about.
Just because they've moved on from an public power struggle to keeping the dirty laundry in the house doesn't mean **** about her real thoughts about things. I just think the situation is way more complex than you realize.
She said she wanted to have Phil around and have him included but realized after a while that having too many dominant voices isn't good for functionality of the front office.
Probably she would have liked Phil take over Jim's position and have him work it out together with Mitch, but you know there's other Buss siblings owning shares of the franchise and that's politics she has to do in that situation not to get removed as the head of basketball operations in case that Jim in an act of retaliation lobbies a majority of vote amongst his siblings to vote her off...
This for example sounds very reasonable for me and I can see every party's position and interests.
I guess her judgement is that she'll give it more time so Mitch finds a way to handle Jim's "public concensus" lack of roster management skills or make him realize that him being there won't lead to winning himself so he resigns in a situation where he blames himself for the lack of success of his team.
Or maybe they all bought in to stealth tanking while tricking half LA to tune in for TBT Kobe, that's going to take place 3 times a week to keep ratings dependent local TV income high, while playing bad basketball, having a chance at #1 in addition to adding talent after Kobe leaves.
