Congratulations to Paul Millsap

Though it was because Love and Griffin opted not to participate, Team USA inviting 'Sap to try out is an awesome honor for him - and well deserved. I'd be willing to wager that he is among at least 75% of Jazz fans' top 5 all-time favorite Jazz players. How could he not? From his rookie season until his final season in Utah he brought everything to the team and the court a fan could want to cheer for.

One of the things that I grew to love about him was the fact that since he was a 2nd round pick, he never got a call from a ref but played through it all the same. I remember stringing together obscenities that would make a sailor blush when he'd get called for a foul when there was no contact, and then there wouldn't be a whistle as he finished an offensive put-back while being tackled by three different players.

Finally, he has started to get some national media attention for being such a quality player (All-Star). As great as he was in his role his first couple seasons in Utah, the improvements he's made and skills he's added while keeping his same attributes that endeared us to him when he first got in the league is awesome to see. I'm happy to see it start to pay off for him in terms of being considered to be part of Team USA.

In retrospect, it's a shame we didn't keep him. He would be perfect next to Favors/Gobert. Booker is a Millsap light. Kanter isn't going to be good enough, although there is a chance that he might step up. But, I have to admit that I miss Millsap.

Amazing what going to the crap East does for a players stock. If I'm a player I'd go there in a contract year.

Not to take anything away, but it's crazy what going east did for Sap and Al.

I also have no regrets about letting them go. If they were here last year, no Exum.

he is still the same guy, but he is used differently. he actually shot worst fg% this year because he is shooting 3s now. but his value has increased because he is shooting alot of 3s and be very good at that.

so it's not even about the west east. it's friggin corbin

Nice to see his hard work and dedication paying off. Get'em Millsap.

Agreed. Great man. Good player.

Wouldn't mind him coming back here at some point to finish his career.

I agree he's used differently in Atlanta. I think that's why he got the invite. Team USA was looking for a stretch 4. Don't agree about the east west thing though and I don't know if Corbin really held him back. The 3 pt shooting seemed to be a developing part of his game in Utah and it's not like he exploded. I think he put up similar numbers in Atlanta, but shot for a higher percentage in Utah. He's just scoring in different ways. I like this version though because he spreads the floor, and I would love to have him back.

Him and Carroll I wanted back tbh. Good players and quality guys.

No it isn't. Holding on to him too long was a shame. Letting him walk for nothing was a shame. It hurt our rebuild and keeping him would have just meant staying in denial over the fact that it was time to rebuild. I'd welcome him back of course, but the way he and Al were handled was a major ****up in this rebuild.

We basically traded Millsap and Jefferson for the Golden State picks. So to say that keeping them too long was a mistake is premature. We should wait and see what Rodney Hood plus whoever the 2017 golden state pick becomes before we can actually judge.

You'd think there were good teams with worse players on expiring deals willing to give up at least some second round picks for the upgrade and Bird rights to Paul or Al. The Jazz would still have had the cap space to make the GS trade in that case. So no, the Jazz did not "basically" trade Al and Paul for the GS picks.

Of course, the Paul and/or Al could have been retained or sign-and-traded if that GS trade didn't materialize. Missing out on acquiring additional assets in a rebuild and miscalculating the market for Gordo's services are somewhat understandable in isolation. It's a little troubling that DL made both of these mistakes.

Yes my friend. He does not have potential you know. This is only thing with matter you know like Morris Almond back on the day.

They should have kept Sap, but hindsight is always 20/20. Kanter was supposed to breakout last year with more minutes and make us forget about Millsap...Kanter regressed.
The good news is Millsap is unrestricted after next year and probably a FA we could realistically acquire, although he wouldn't give us a discount.

Or Quincy Lewis? Potential, intelligence and work ethic, not just potential.

NO, we should NOT have kept him..or AL....we should have got rid of them a year sooner actually, if you are using hindsight..
How can you say hindsight is 20/20 then make a wrong choice again?

Crappy post.

Your posts become harder to decode every day. The one above is little more than random words jumbled together. I literally have no clue what point you're trying to make.
