Conley Officially a Jazzman

We can find the thing Love does in FA or on the market for so much less... now that we have Conley I think we could go on the budget side of stretch 4s. If he was a stretch and playmaking 4 it'd be different and I'd say go for it.

I bet it wouldn't cost a whole lot for Bjelica… as a matter of fact... the word on the street is that Kangs ain't all that keen on paying WCS long term. He's a different dude and if he secures the bag I could see him checking out of basketball a bit. Maybe a Favs for Bjelica deal... maybe we swipe the #40 in the process. They get a good center option on a decent one year salary... can keep Barnes and still likely have max space. If Giles or Bagley prove they are ready then you move on from Favs after a year.

We'd still have 10M and room exception to hunt for depth pieces.

I also just think we could roll with Royce at the 4 but then need another 2/3 that can come off the bench. I will die on the "Royce should be our small ball big wing" hill. He rebounds and is thicc for a wing... could spot up shooter and can attack a close out. Can switch 1-4.

This. We'd need to waive Favors, but the market here can get mid-tier FAs.

I wonder if Boston would do Baynes and 22 for Favs... not sure what their plans are for their space.

Only way I'd help the punk @** celtics is if they offered us their 14th pick. Other than that, f**k them and hope their franchise have the worst luck and to hell with Danny Ainge, I can't stand that guy.

He can't defend the 4 on the perimeter or in space. You have to be kidding me.
Hell niang provides what we need about as good as love and is younger, healthier and much much cheaper

Niang grabs 6.1 rebounds per 36. Love grabs 14.4. I believe Love is a better defender than Niang. Love isn't a great defender, but I don't think he's a complete sieve like he's portrayed.

Looking at what the starting lineup needs... a ball mover who is a lights out shooter at the 4 would be ideal... Bjelica gives you that. It would be better if he was a lock down defender, but now you are talking about basically a 20M or more player if he has all that. Go overpay for a good backup center and bring them off the bench if you need to... I just don't understand why we don't move that direction.

You're preaching to the choir. FO values Favors at $18M over Bjelica at $7 or whatever.

Fish has lost his damn mind. Comparing Niang to Love LMAO. Niang wouldn't even be on a team if it wasn't for the jazz.

And I understand the argument of "Favs anchors the bench units"... sweet then steal Bjelica and sign Ed Davis to a 1 year $8m deal with a second year team option (much more than he will actually get btw) and use the remaining amount to sign Caruso... I will take Bjelica, Davis, Caruso with the contract flexibility they provide over Favs. Favs is by far the best player in that group... but we don't get the full value.

I know you are on board... just spitballing/venting a bit.

Love is the worst version of himself that he has ever been and making more money than he has ever made. And he is likely to get worse in the future while making another couple of million more the next two years than he did this last year (then there is another year after that when he makes what he made last year when he wasn't very good and he will certainly be worse)

Horrible business decision.

It's usually best to buy low and sell high.

A move to acquire love would be the opposite.

I have already said I don't want him in the paint grabbing rebounds. Gobert will handle the paint. Our 4 needs to guard the perimeter and shoot threes. Stay out da paint!

Baynes and #14 seems fair. We would have $10 million of cap + #14 + the room exception ($4.7) to fill out the roster.

Doumbouya, Rui or Clarke would be awesome.

You won't get #14 imo

Kevin Love shoots 3. I hope the jazz have big balls and do it just so I can see the implosion on the forum and then when we make it to the finals, I'll bring the crow out for everyone

@fishonjazz isn't saying Love is better than Niang… it's a value judgement.

The things we like most about Love:

- good shooter
- good passer
- good rebounder
- can post smaller guys up

The things we don't like about Love:

- defensive liability

Niang shares some of those similarities and some of the weaknesses but he comes at 1/28th of the cost. Love is overkill for what we need now. I don't think Niang is the guy yet, but he should get 10-15 minutes a night next season to hopefully prove he could be.

Love is just too spendy.

You still haven't answered my question.
Yes love shoots 3's. Is he the only player who does that?

Why wouldn't you rather have a guy who provides what love does who is also younger, cheaper, and healthier? Do you just hate the jazz?
