Nothing we say or do is going to influence the decision. Nothing Corbin does over the last 15 games is going to change Lindsey's mind. He's already made the decision to keep Corbin or thank him for his service and let him leave as a "free agent."

I will say this...if Corbin comes back and most of you are so irate about the decision, vote with your $. Stop going to the games. Stop buying Jazz merchandise. That's how you send the message that losing is unacceptable. And don't give me the sorry old line that weak attendance will force the Millers to sell the team to a Seattle group. The appreciation of the franchise and amortization of the ESA far outstrip any short-term losses they might incur. They'd be looking to sell both in any deal, which means a group would have to keep the team in SLC. Besides, Seattle is too valuable to the NBA as an empty city. Look how that threat got Sacramento to cough up funds to keep the Kings; it can be used over and over again to get other cities to fall in line.

How could they be so insane to keep Corbin. Obviously, then, Lindsey is not making the decision if they keep him.

Why would the jazz owners or management listen to the fans about Corbin this year?

Last year all the fans were whining and complaining about playing the young players, so they let all the vets go, gave majors minutes to the young guys and the fans have responded by showing up by the dozens to home games.

They might listen to their corporate sponsors, they might listen to lower bowl season ticket holders, but I doubt they are going to listen to the"fans" for a long time.

I like how you say major minutes to the young guys. That's an oversimplification of what has occurred. They let vets go and Ty is still relying on vets, only vets of lesser quality. Ty is not using the young guys properly. That's why I'm unhappy and his poor leadership has not instilled confidence in the players and has turned off the fans.

Exactly.
In a REBUILDING year, why the hell do you give MAJOR minutes to a guy like RJ who is NOT part of the future? Marvin, perhaps I can understand...there might be a genuine interest in bringing him back. But why not evaluate players like Clark, etc. Why not play Hayward and Burks together? And instead of blaming Kanter for the 1-14 start, when the Jazz were led by Lucas III and Tinsley, WHY NOT try giving some rotation time to the Burks, Burke, Hayward, Favors and Kanter quintet? Even the players are scratching their heads over that one.

As to mellow's assertions that the fans having been showing up by the dozens, well, I guess that's true. There are still thousands going to the games, but home attendance is the LOWEST it has been since the team moved from the Salt Palace and down 4% from last season. Even the pitiful team of 2004-05 averaged nearly 1,000 more per game than this year's version. The team of "no-names" the previous season that almost made the playoffs averaged 1,200 more. This team is simply BORING. There is nothing to watch. There is no evidence of a young team getting better, no evidence the team is struggling while learning a new offense or defense, but that once the learning curve is conquered, the team will play better.

That the team even still draws 17,900 is evidence of the HOPE that Jazz fans have. And I quote, "Commitment to the rebuild took faith and market research. Rigby said Jazz officials also heard the message from fans last season that they would endure rebuilding, taking "short-term pain for a long-term reward.""

The JAZZ DID listen to fans, even to the point of doing market research. I guarantee you, though, that attendance will drop dramatically if the rebuild doesn't starting showing results next season.

Fish, Rigby's secretary called me when she saw my number on his answering machine, which Rigby hadn't listened to and asked who I was, so I gave her an earful. I think she was shocked at how passionate I was about getting rid of Corbin as I enumerated all his shortcomings. People should call if they have the urge. If nothing else, it will remove any doubts they have about letting Corbin go.

I dont think its wrong of you to call and voice your opinion, and i think people are over reacting big time about it.

I also think that they are gonna keep/fire/let go corbin regardless of what we say so i dont see the point in making the call.

Im quite certain corbin is not around next year.... if corbin gets a new contract with the jazz, then i will be asking you for that number again and i WILL call and complain along with not go to games or buy jerseys etc etc.

I really not worried about that though.... ty is a goner

Yeah, Greg knows the people, the personalities, but how much does he know about basketball?

Well, let's start with this. In order to know whether Corbin's doing a good job, you'd have to know what job he's been told by Greg and DL to do. You don't know that. For all you know, Corbin may be doing exactly what he's been told to do. How do you know? Greg does know, though.

Does anyone have Jason's number? The amount of posting time some of these older posters is getting is ridiculous. They can't be part of the board's long term future, can they?

I understand that the younger posters are even worse, but at least there is some hope that they'll improve.

What is the vision, Jason?

If you're talking about me, Bordy -- you have 500 more posts than me. Maybe you're talking about my constant harping on Corbin ... well it will be soon be over -- whether he leaves or not because if he doesn't I'm done.

If I got hold of Jason's number I'd ask him how he can live with himself infracting all the funny posters while the dopes who couldn't catch a good joke if it hit them right in the mouth just go merrily along their oblivious way.

Exactly.

Well, according to some misguided posters the vets were about teaching the youngsters about winning NBA basketball. They would have been lost without them apparently. We'd be in the 2 seed without Marvin and RJ, and our youngsters would be broken.

Isn't this the truth.

Prediction:
Corbin's contract is not renewed and every week we get at least one post from Eenie-Meenie telling us his call to Rigby's secretary was the swing vote.

Yeah, well they didn't listen to me when I called and demanded they not let Matthews go ...
