What's new

Contraction

It might also have to do with paying way too much in the way of salary for the players, which increases the price of tickets so the owners can pay those salaries. When the people that buy tickets have less money, or spend more money on fuel and other life expenses.... less people seem to buy tickets to a game.
There will have to be some compromise on both sides to get this to work.
I don't think a lockout will help the situation either.

EXCUSE me? The lockout, for about 1 year....will cure alot of what ails today's NBA!

Only if the players cave first.
If the owners cave in, it will be the same old crap.... and the players will know they can win the battle every time until the NBA folds.

I don't see the owners caving this time. They have a lot more money and staying power then the players. Sure Kobe, Lebron, Other elite players can live off endorsements but a lot other players really hurt when there $500k - 1 mil salary isn't coming in.

Barrier to agreement?

Diaphragming the play?

No more pro(phylactic) basketball?

Lockout a tough pill to swallow?

Season to be aborted?

NBA owners pull-out?

Ok ok better stop before I get an infraction...

Intra-Union Decision?

Will be asked to be the bruiser on the team, rugged post player who can rebound and get stick backs, will get beter with time, will add much needed depth in the paint

He's out of Philip O. Barry Academy in Charlotte, NC and he's among the leaders on his team in points, rebounds and steals.

not sure if he deserves a thread of his own quite yet, but definitely someone to keep an eye on...

And he'd probably come at a cheap price too!

The problem is right when he gets going and makes you think he is going to do something spectacular he just stops.

interesting article here

https://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/celtics/articles/2011/03/06/reason_to_be_jazzed_up_in_the_smaller_markets/

starts out discussing the Jazz/Nets trade, but goes on to discuss small market basketball, the Kings move and other stuff...

...O’Connor decided that Utah wasn’t going to join Cleveland and Toronto in small-market hell. Those teams banked on the loyalty of LeBron James and Chris Bosh but were left with trade exceptions and little hope.

Perhaps O’Connor’s quick trigger will set a trend for smaller-market teams that want value for their soon-to-depart superstars. Younger pieces and draft picks are essential to rebuilding, and larger-market teams seeking validity will have those to offer. The Knicks, for example, have practically given the Nuggets new life with the Carmelo Anthony trade.

Not every superstar wants to play in a big city with a storied franchise. There are those who just want to play and be appreciated. Harris talked about playing in front of a full house in Utah instead of a mausoleum in New Jersey....

(didn't feel like starting a new thread, maybe this one will be reborn....)
