Cooper Flagg hype & appreciation thread

The really *****y thing about tanking is you still have basically a 50/50 shot at not even getting a top 4 pick.
Yeah people seriously need to realize that the worst record in the league gives you:

14% chance of #1 (thats worse than rolling the dice once to land a 6)
27.4% chace of top 2 (thats close to calling coin flip correct twice in a row)
40.1% chance of top 3 (still much less likely to happen than not)
52.1% chance of top 4 (coin flip odds)
47.9% chance of top 5 (the calling the previous coinflip wrong)

Worst record in the flat lottery era has resulted in these picks: 3, 2, 2, 3, 5, 5

The worst team in the league has a 14% chance at the #1 pick. The NBA changed the odds to discourage tanking.
The 25% wasn't talking about getting the number 1 pick though. It was talking about getting one of the top players in the draft (a poster listed the top prospects. 4 or 5 dudes iirc)

All six of those are better draft positions than 9 and 10 though right?

We get the math folks. But the worst record gives you a guarantee at a top 5 pick is the point. If there are 5 difference makers then you will worst case have one of the 5.

I wouldn't mind fourth or fifth pick. If Jazz miss out Flagg, Nolan Traore is the second best thing after that, and might be available on 4-5th.
Can you imagine tanking this season, finishing with the worst record in a stacked class, and then ending up with Nolan Traore. God that would be so mid, kind of like when we ended up wtih Exum instead of Embiid or Wiggins

Can you imagine how goated having 3 6'10+ white dudes starting together in Flagg / Lauri / Kessler would be

I just happen to think Traore is the 2nd best prospect after Flagg bc he has decent tools and very very high bball IQ, and as we've seen past years, no one really knows until they come and play the league.

I prefer to get the 1st pick and Flagg, but if Jazz drops lower I'm happy that Traore probably is available at 4th or 5th
