What's new

Corbin on NBA TV tonight

I wish I had NBATV.

Anything special other than giggling at his kermit-voice?

Nah, he just commented on the Spurs/OKC game. I think it was the main host of Gametime who said San Antonio "steam rolled" their way to the WCF, and Brent Barry followed up with "Our guest is the coach of the team San Antonio defeated in the first round, the Utah Jazz."

There was a little laughter from the other 3, and Corbin was muttering "Uh... well..." It was funny, they kind of took a few jabs at Corbin.

Basically he was there for only a good 30 minutes of gametime, hard to say if he really was on the show for much of tonight. Like pregame and all. He stayed quiet, predicted Boston to win the ECF, and gave his philosophy on how San Antonio and OKC need to play to win.

unless he was announcing his retirement from coaching - not really interested.

He actually announced there'd be at least two additions to next year's coaching squad

My old man hates Coach Corbin. I think he's got a chance to be great. I was encouraged by what I saw this year.

It's still early, but I see nothing innovative coming out of him. Nothing that tells me he's able to teach, motivate or evaluate players at a high level.

He'll go only as far as his talent takes him and not one step further - just like 90% of the other coaches in this leage.

I agree with this. It has occurred to me that after hearing Corbin say something, I find myself saying, "ya, he's right; that was a very good point that he made; I never would have noticed that." I actually find myself saying that about David Locke way more than Corbin. Corbin usually says, "we just gotta keep getting better, make shots, execute our offense, and get better." He seems to have no great insight at all.

That is what all coaches say in interviews/post-game/pre-game/halftime interviews, even the great ones.

I consider the following from Corbin (after I can't recall which game) to be more than "we just gotta keep getting better ... ."https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpiIWMWWVco
