Your post is thoughtful and I appreciate it but I was speaking more to the article posted - specifically the unvaccinated people who have said they'll never get vaccinated under any circumstances; which seems to have been the position of these two dead guys. And for those folks I'll plant a flag in the assertion that the leading, lagging and only indicator is "selfish moron."

Why are cases spiking even though more and more people are getting vaccinated?

MAGA! I think a lot of these anti vax MAGA types suffer the same problem, chronic insecurity and narcissism. They’re scared little boys.

Interesting that he fixates on Ron "Deathsantis" lol (to be fair that's actually the funniest thing he's ever posted) I can't remember did he have an issue with Cuomo putting Covid patients back into nursing homes and actually being a catalyst for tens of thousands of deaths ?


the gulf between the political extremes of both sides that Covid displays is really sad

dude you're either being deliberately disingenuous or you just can't be bothered. I'm for vaccines BUT this is on the Australia Governments drug regulatory body's own website. Yes very very tiny percentages but these are the numbers that the government has confirmed themselves as having been specifically caused by taking Astrazenica vaccine. And there are 61 cases of GB syndrome confirmed, 66 cases of myocarditis/pericarditis. They also list 303 cases of death "following" having taken a vaccine without any specific cause of death being linked / confirmed.

So yes vaccines are very important. But to say they're totally safe and 100 % harmless is just not accurate. Like any medication there is always a risk / reward scenario to weigh up which of course in this pandemic is heavily in favor of a majority of people being vaccinated.

For people who think everyone get vaccinated and the pandemic will be over ... you're taking some other kind of drug.


Deaths related to TTS​

Sadly, this week we were notified that two confirmed cases of TTS after the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine were fatal. One was in a 44-year-old man from Tasmania and the other was in a 48-year-old women from Victoria (this case was reported as probable TTS in last week’s report). The TGA extends its sincerest condolences to their families and loved ones.
Since the beginning of the vaccine rollout in Australia, a total of five deaths from TTS have been reported out of 6.1 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine. All of them were related to a first dose of the vaccine.

TTS cases to date​

Since last week’s report, a further four reports of blood clots and low blood platelets have been assessed as confirmed or probable TTS likely to be linked to the AstraZeneca vaccine (Table 1).

Who said that Cuomo did a good job? Like why are you insinuating that he did? When has anyone defended Cuomo? But his screwups occurred right as the pandemic began and before a vaccine was available. What DeathSantis is doing is inexcusable. His positions of anti masks (banning districts and private businesses from mandating masks) and mocking health officials is indefensible.

Is MAGA just short for “being a moron?”

I'm betting if Cuomo could do it over again he would do it different.

yeah i agree the florida response is bizarre ... but i've not heard Cuomo say anything other than he thinks his handling was perfect ??
 
I think that if someone who is unvaccinated by choice shows up at a hospital with covid and wants treatment that the medical staff should be like

One way you could tell that cuomo didn't think his handling was perfect is that he wasn't throwing people with covid into nursing homes in the later parts of last year right? He made a huge huge huge mistake at the beginning of the pandemic. If he thought that huge mistake was actually the correct way to do things then he probably would not have stopped doing things that way.
