Could the LeBronathon scenario happen in the NFL?

A week or two ago I saw an article saying NFL execs after watching the NBA's LeBronathon unfold, are more determined than ever to NOT relinquish the Franchise Tag concept, which will be a hot topic in the NFL's upcoming Labor negotiations. The below article discusses possible scenarios:

100% agree. Basketball needs to somehow learn from the NFL with this. Make the players "EARN" their large amounts of money.
