Could We Use Trey Burke

Bashing Simmons makes posters look foolish. Many Jazz fans are being ridiculed around the world for this silly homerism. Same for the Sixers fans bashing DM.

Simmons is amazing. Spida is incredible. Enjoy great rookies entering the NBA and playing great basketball.
I agree with this. I do think it’s debateable how much a redshirt year helps prepare a player for an NBA season and if that should be held against them. . . But I don’t think that bashing Simmons is warranted at all. His overall game is very, very good. I’m curious to see how well his game holds up if he can’t improve his outside shot, but he’s helping his team win games right now and get to the playoffs. He’s aided (significantly) by having guys like Embiid and Saric handle the scoring load, but he’s playing within the system and is getting the job done.

My point for this thread was to show how prolific Donovan has been as a scorer and #1 option for this team. Also to show how much room for improvement he has based on what guys comparable to him have done before going on to bigger and better things.

So rebound, steals, assists, defense and play making don't matter anymore in a game of basketball? Only scoring matters ? what a fool
They matter and for him he can't score like Mitchell so he has to focus on those.

Those stats also disappear in the 4th as well for him.

He is pretty good, mostly I like teasing the Australian trolls we have in here. They are funny.

Guys who can still play better than Burke. Stockton, Ricky Green, John Crotty, Howard Eisley, Raul Lopez, Carlos Arroyo, Mark Jackson, and Milt Palacio all may qualify.

Let's be serious.

No doubt D-Will and Mo Williams are better than Burke. But not 50-somethings.

An additional year of college, and all the year-round development that top prospects get these days, helps a player develop.

So Donovan has an unfair advantage over the one-and-done rookies.

I'm confused, so you guys agree that a year in the NBA is huge for development, even without playing any games? Because you only seem to make that argument when it suits you.

We’ll just have to agree to disagree. I don’t think it’s even close to a comparison.

A year of pro development for an NBA team is more valuable than a year of college development.

Or to put another way, I think that the development Tony Bradley got this year by having a full season of access to the Jazz/Stars coaching staff, practicing against professional players every day and having round the clock access to a professional strength and training staff was far more valuable to him than going back to UNC. Plus, the Jazz were able to teach him their system and control what role and minutes he was able to play. Something that no college team can replicate.

The argument that going back to school gives anyone an advantage over being in the NBA for a redshirt season is extremely flawed (and rather silly) IMO.

He had put up a 21.8 PER for the season BEFORE tonight's game. His numbers had mostly just trended down, even after leaving Utah... until this season.

DM is a better defender than Burke,
but Burke is shooting 53% this season and 38% from 3. He is A much more efficient scorer than Mitchell.

True, plus he is helping his team win and carrying the offensive load like Mitchell right?

How much better is Burke's shooting than Simmons? Since Simmons can't shoot I guess it's infinitely better? 76ers should probably send a pick and Simmons for Burke if they want to go anywhere.

Although they already drafted Simmons replacement and upgrade in fultz. But Burke would be insurance if he doesn't pan out .

Jealousy isn't a great look for you by the way. But it's okay, Mitchell makes even reasonable people jealous when he isn't on your team or from your country.

If it makes you feel better you can try trading for him on NBA 2k. I mean, you live in a fantasy world already.
