I might go for making four states out of CA if I could spin off one for Bishop by itself.

We only seem more divided because more people than ever have a means to express their viewpoints. I am sure a select few would not mind sending gay folks back to the closet, blacks back to the rear of the bus, and women back to the kitchen and laundry rooms.
We can than shut down the internet and talk radio, and tune in at 6pm every night so Walker Cronkite can tell us what to think parroting in visual form what white males running the local newspapers told us to think with delivery of the morning edition.

Limiting myself to a two country divide id say the west coast (including Nevada, Great Lakes and New England as one country. Then the Rocky mountain states, plains and south down thru Florida.
But if I had to bet Id say a split would be very bloody IMO and varies foreign players (Mexico and China for example) would get involved and Id say it results in a half dozen new countries.

Old "LDS" fringers talk about a "White Horse Prophecy". Damned if it didn't prophecy the US wasting it's strength on useless foreign wars, then falling in an internal civil conflict where everybody was fighting everybody else for a thousand different reasons, while the Mexicans and Chinese began occupying the southwest and west coast, respectively. And the Constitution "hanging by a thread".
That was supposed to be the time when folks who don't want to be fighting their neighbors would come to the Rockies and Great Basin, and where the "Elders of Israel" were supposed to form up into a patriot force for re-establishing American constitutional principles of government.
Somehow, I don't think Orrin Hatch or Mitt Romney will be on that team. Probably, the whole CFR/NWO scheme will be completely sacked.
But the end result will be a greater American nation. I think we will extend constitutional principles and human rights to other parts of the world, maybe with the guidance of some intervening leader on the level of a Jesus, or something.

I believe your statement is partially correct. I know utah's constitution expressly states that "The State of Utah is an inseparable part of the Federal Union and the. Constitution of the United States is the supreme law of the land. "
I believe the original arrangement made it possible for the thirteen colonies to succeed, but it is possible they later gave up that right.
