What's new

D.O.N Issue #1

I also really like Adidas basketball shoes... seem to be wider fit than Nike for me. Loved the Dame's and they held up pretty well. Currently wearing the new Curry's and not sure how I feel about em...
I'm still rocking iversons

I'll throw my guess at $129 officially. Hopefully they have some sweet colorways. I'm not cool enough for red-orange and blue.
This.
I will not purchase the orange and blue. I will be buying them to wear around, not for playing b-ball so they need to match a bit better. Hoping for some predominantly black ones.

I bought some old Iversons on Eastbay back in the day for $30... they cut my feet up so bad I tossed them after 2 weeks... I had blisters on like every part of my foot... Must have been a rough version and maybe why they were so cheap.

He said he wanted anyone, rich or poor, to be able to afford them. If it’s north of $100, then he’s up in the night. I wouldn’t even buy my own kid those and we’re not poor. The last basketball shoes I bought myself I think were like $45, and I’m a grown *** man.

You cheap doe.

I’m having a hard time envisioning who the poor kids are that should be forking out $100+ on shoes. I mean, we’re complaining about $4/mo birth control, FFS.

They don't. Many just need any shoes. It's reachable for lower middle class at $100ish. I grew up lower middle class... though I thought of us as more middle class. I got one pair of shoes in this range for Christmas one year. If I wanted more expensive had to buy myself. I could have scraped enough together to buy these back in the day though.

Unless you are going the ShaqFu or Dada $20 kmart route none of these are close to affordable for the poor.

Honestly, I was giving consideration for some Shaq shoes. I need a new pair of shoes and I don't play seriously any more. My last purchase was like 8 years ago, and then I ruptured my right achilles like 3 years later, which took me out of basketball for two years, then I ruptured my left one, which has still kept me out of playing any pickup basketball. I do play with my kids, however, but I just wear regular running shoes. I'm not looking to get back into hard play like I used to.

I’m not criticizing because to each their own. Many spend money on crap. The crap just differs person to person. But I never understood the fascination and purchasing of these expensive sneaks when they come out. Then again, fashion’s not my thing.

From a functional standpoint, I hated playing in basketball sneakers/high tops. I basically only played in $40 running shoes. I was so much quicker and explosive in them.

If you weigh over 160 lbs it isnt wise to play basketball in running shoes.

I know a lot of guys share your feeling here. I play with some dudes that are rolling and you'd think they sneakers are the same ones they used in HS.

I play a lot so it's worth it in my mind. Feet/Shoes are important.
