How many miles would it be from base to 11,000 feet?

Well I think the start of the trailhead is probably around 8,000 feet and then it's about 15 miles to the end of trail.
Kinda tough to answer your question though cause it isn't like climbing a mountain where you have a base and a peak and a distance between. Instead you have a start and a finish and the trail goes up and down flat throughout. It's moderately difficult but nothing extreme at all.

US border and consulate officials in general were pain in the behind even before Trump disaster. I needed visa to USA to pass my board exams in 2006 ( much cheaper and shorter waiting period than in Canada) and experience in USA consulate in Calgary was the worst ever. That dick USA consul did not believe anything I was saying, no documents mattered to him, or the fact that I have a job and family and for sure not planning to stay there illegally after my exams are done. He just plain refused to give me entry visa for no reason. Well actually his reason was that he could not understand stamp in my passport which said that I left USA in 2000 after my visit in time and he did not believe me. ( it clearly said departed 06 30 00 ). So I needed to call Lufthansa and get a copy of my plane ticket from 6 years ago proving that I was on that plane going back home. Only after I provided that ticket copy the other consul on duty looked at it, laughed and said, oh you even got a ticket copy? Ok here is your visa.... they treat you like you are some kind of criminal no matter your religion or ethnicity anyway as long as your name is not English.
So all in all I would advise not to lie. Answer all questions honestly, you biggest weapon now is your Canadian passport and that you have been to USA before.

Damn, we should do a san rafael desert epic hike. We could do an 8 or so hour hike there, but the drive is so long. A slot canyon would be so fun, but might be in flash flood warning at that time of year.
