Damian Lillard - Our best PG hope

This kid needed his own thread.

Scouts liked what they saw last night.

Chad Ford

”Damian Lillard's season may be over, but his 29 pts, 10 reb, 7 assts impressed scouts again. I think he'll be a Top 10 pick in the NBA Draft”

”I think both the Jazz and the Suns would be natural fits for Lillard on draft night.”

Here are some more tweets to support your cause:

DraftExpress I asked a GM if Damian Lillard will go lottery. "He should but no one will have the balls to take a guy who played at Weber State that high"

DraftExpress Agree that Utah is a very important exception for Lillard. Need a PG, know him intimately, and GM does not give a damn what anyone thinks.

There is about 5 pages worth of stuff in the 2012 prospect thread about him including the above quote from Ford... just sayin

I know, good point, but if Marshall deserves his own thread and is seriously in the draft picture, I thought we should make an all things Lillard thread since it's a real possibility the Jazz could take him.

For a quick Lillard-Marshall comparision-

Lillard is a scoring guard that has matured into a decent playmaking/passing guard. He is athletic and has a good all-around game. Questions about his level of competition.

Marshall is a elite passer with average athletic ability. His ability to score and play D in the NBA are major question marks but he has the high-major competition card.

I support a Lillard only thread, as the leader of the bandwagon......

If all hell breaks lose and the Jazz lose both their picks this year, I bet KOC would turn Millslap or AJ into a first rounder at the draft. I bet 100 bucks KOC gets his guy, whomever it is

Does anyone know anythign about his personality and dedication to improvement.

The commentators for last nights game were mentioning the the coach said that he is a gym rat. They probably brought it up a half dozen times.

Nice to hear. That is a huge plus in my book. Good personality, coachable, gym rat, humble are all vastly under rated.

I watched the game last night, he could literally do whatever he wanted ala Derrick Rose .... but he was playing against Montana. He struggled against BYU earlier this year also. I'm not completely sold on him, but I wouldnt be mad if the Jazz picked him up.

Did anyone else read this as, "Dalai Lama - Our best PG hope"? He already wants DWon't's number, which is a great sign.

I graduated from Weber last April, but still live in Ogden and go to all the games. I have met Lillard a few times up on campus. The guy is a stud. He has a great attitude and work ethic. He isn't in to partying and is a very good family guy. He even likes living in Utah. He could have played in a number of different schools, but chose to play in Ogden, Utah. I think personality wise he would fit the Jazz very well. He is a very good three point shooter, and a very unselfish player. He is very humble and always willing to deflect credit to his teammates and coaches. Just a solid individual. All his coaches and teammates have giving him credit as an extremely hard worker. Hope thhis helps.

The Jazz MIGHT end up with Lillard, they may also end up with any of thousands of other players. The odds of Damion Lillard being a Jazzman most be 10's of thousands to one.
Making this thread, and all mention of the Jazz linked to Lillard's name or Marshall's name or anyone else's name at this point is just plain ridiculous. I also like Lillard and think
he might make an NBA player but right now he is a fairly small sized fish in a pond the size of the Pacific ocean.

Montana seemed like a pretty good team to me. They had a legit 7 footer, a good PF, and an athletic PG and some really good shooters. They ALSO HAVE THE NEPHEW OF JOHN STOCKTON (who is a bench player who sucks)!!!! They are only 5 deep, but their starting 5 seemed like legit competition to me.

I would say the odds are way higher than that if, especially if the Jazz land two lottery picks. The odds would be pretty high then.

The highlight real posted in the PG thread make him look too slow, not athletic enough, and way too small to be a starting PG in the NBA. I'd rank him Jameer Nelson light.

The good news is that I don't think the top 10 talk is anywhere near reality so the Jazz should be able to pick him if they want to. I wouldn't have the balls to pick him in the lottery either. He's nice, but he's not going to be good in the NBA from day 1 and it's quite possible he might never develop the point guard skills he needs to.
