Damian Lillard Wanted to Play for The Utah Jazz

I bet Lillard is loyal. BUT, if his contract ends, and Portland is still 5-9 in the West....Loyalty can only take you so far. When you have money, you want to win. Well, he has money now.

This, if Utah is in the better position competition wise and can throw the money at him he can be had. Problem is that it's not like Utah will be after him in a vacuum. So will most the league.

This is exactly where the league is headed. Especially with the new salary cap. Back in the day, so to speak, a 11 mill salary vs a 7 mill salary was a HUGE difference. Comparatively speaking a 30 mill salary vs a 27 mill salary isn't big enough to entice anymore. We will see more "super-teams" as the best players pick and choose where they play, just like KD and Bron, since money will become a much less motivating factor. When your role player guys will end up making more than a John Stockton did for his best season as one of the GOATs, then you just can't throw enough money at a player to buy their loyalty. They will play long enough on the rookie contract, maybe with an extension to get to that ~30 mill mark for a season or 2, then take the 15-25 mill offered by the team with the most proven stars to get the ring. Everybody even sniffing at possible all-star potential will make well over 100 mill in their career. They can cut that back by 10-15 mill or more easy to make sure they get on a super-team to get the ring as well. So much for loyalty in any way shape or form really. It will become a rarity.

I don't smoke but this made me smoke.

Would Exum fan boys trade Exum and some change for Lillard?

If there's a single jazz fan who says no to this, then you have to turn in your Jazz Fan card for this one:

Would Exum fan boys trade Exum and some change for Lillard?

Im a huge Exum fan and I would do this in a heart beat, simply because Lillard is proven and Exum is still a project. But I would not be surprised at all if Exum ended up being better. Exum is already a much much better defender. I think he is going to be a better facilitator very soon and has the length that is much better than Lillard. Will Exum ever be a better shooter? I doubt it. Will Exum be a better scorer? That is also unlikely but possible. I think the Jazz ultimately would be better suited with an elite defender and a excellent distributor who can hit open shots and get into the paint at will at the PG position over a pure scorer who plays no defense. But who knows if Exum hits all of those so of course you take the player who is already at a high level right now. I would not however trade Hayward for Lillard assuming contracts are the same amount and length. Although Hayward could walk at the end of his contract so that would factor in if it was a possibility, which it is not. Partially because of our strength at certain positions and that I think they are on roughly the same level.

Oh heck yeah any if the exum supporters trade exum and change for Lillard. I love exum but Lillard is a superstar. We get Lillard and we are a contender.
