Danny Ainge out as Celtics GM — Jazz linked as potential landing spot

He would have to come in above Lindsay or possibly in a consultant role like Jerry West for the Clippers. He’s aggressive and smart when it comes to trades so everyone on a fan board who is constantly doing trade checker should want him.

My only thought would be Walt Perrin's job as head of scouting/draft operations.
Ainge’s draft record outside the top of the first round is uhhhhhh not great.

I think he’s a smart guy and I think he’d be good in some capacities... as a GM though I think he’s shrewd and probably burned a few too many bridges.

No one will ever convince me him and Stevens didn’t tamper like MFers with Gordon. He also couldn’t do us a solid and send us a trade exception (those thinking he’d gift Crowder... well that’s too much). He’s failed to put together the bug trade and his draft picks have been pretty yucky and he’s had a ton of em. Why would DL need another big name GM type... go find the next young guy and give home a role. Go find a super math genius to help with cap mechanics.

Also if Ainge came here I’m convinced it’s to steal corporate knowledge and try to steal Rudy or DM somehow. Guy is a snake... he’s not well liked around the league... just no thanks. I guess if Zanik or others are leaving this might make some sense but I’d rather go a different direction.

Not a great look by the Jazz organization, after dealing with the stigma of racism within their own fanbase, to hire a guy who just said there isn't a problem with racism in Boston.

I don't really think Ryan Smith would be this tone-deaf. At least I hope not.

If Larry/Gail were still in charge, there is no way it would happen - they were as loyal as possible. We don't have enough history with Rian to say how he'll react, but he seems to be made from the same mold.
