What's new

Danny Ainge wants young studs.

Exactly. That's why I don't understand why they are shopping Rondo so hard.

I've seen this asked a lot. Could be simply that they're rebuilding the entire team, completely .. and Rondo can get them more young parts .. like 3 for 1??

I think Rondo would fit Utah's scheme PERFECTLY, but I probably still wouldn't pull the trigger. Utah's probably holding onto their own pick this year and it looks like they've at least got a decent shot at getting the GS pick as well. If I'm KOC, I roll the dice and hope for the 2 lottery picks, then figure out how to parlay those into the PG of the future.

I also think Sap and Jefferson have to be dealt at some point but it's probably not going to be right now. Neither one of them are ever going to be bench players and you're certainly not going to let two consecutive #3 picks in Favors and Kanter come off the bench for the next 4 or 5 years. Having these 4 guys on the same team is going to run it's course very quickly.

Burks is exciting and I think he will thrive here.

I am a big Hayward fan, but he seems to need the right environment to thrive. I think Hayward has a better upside than Burks IF HE IS ON THE RIGHT TEAM AND COACH.

I do not think that is here.

To that end, I would trade Hayward. (Plus , I could see him play earlier since I am also on the East Coast :) )
Of course you want Hayward traded. You are not a Jazz fan. You are a Hayward fan that thinks he will be better if he is moved. You are wrong but that is a different argument.

I'd offer up Harris milsap for Rondo and hold to it. Boston seems pretty desperate right now. Plus Harris millsap is a lot to give up for a PG that can't shoot or make ft's. And the both have pretty reasonable contracts

If we trade any of our young 4 (Hayward, Burks, Favors, Kanter) I will be beyond pissed off and luckily for some of you...will refuse to post for a long time as I attempt to forget about the Jazz.

Okay. Think logically for a moment or two. Say we get two draft picks. I know you wouldn't take Marshall. So we end up with two MORE young studs and still no PG. We won't even be able to re-sign all 6 anyway .. and still no PG.

Solution? Draft Rivers as PG?

I hate to say this, but i just don't see Boston biting for Millsap/harris. They NEED to rebuild, and have publicly announced they want to rebuild. So getting 2 borderline allstars (Im giving harris the benefit of the doubt) for arguably their best player doesn't sound too appealing. We got Harris (who was an Allstar the year prior)/ Favors (That years 3rd pick)/ their first rounder on a very poor season/ and a GS first rounder for our 2 time allstar who is arguably a one of the best point guards in the league. Rondo is a top 5 point guard in the league, a 3 time allstar, and fairly young. If i were boston, i wouldn't even consider doing that trade. I know that Rondo can't shoot, but that still doesn't justify how good of a play maker he is. Don't get me wrong, i LOVE Millsap, but i think we as Jazz fans overvalue him a bit too much.

I like Rondo but he's not worth giving up one the young guys. It's not like he's a franchise changer.

This again, why are the big/young 4 considered untouchable? All 4 are unproven talents that may or may not blossom. If you need to package one of them for a proven talent that has blossomed you do it. Not to mention Kanter/Favors might not even progress into their potential without a guy making like easier for them which Rondo would no doubt do.

For me I would be ok drafting Rivers and testing him out at PG. I also would like to have Rondo as the PG to lead this team going forth. With that being said, I would rather trade the GSW pick instead of one of the young guys. I would not do both.

Is anyone else worried that if the Jazz do land Rondo and the Jazz still have Jefferson that this will be a major problem? From what I can gather Rondo will give all he can when he is in there and Jefferson routinely gives up on plays. I am sure that Rondo would freak out about that.

Yes. It would be a problem. Rondo would trade him, lol.

I don't think Boston trades their expirings, they are going to be looking to sign at least one of the major FAs this summer. Ainge might be angling for a way to use Rondo to dump PP, clearing the way for signing Deron and Dwight. He's almost certainly after Deron if he is willing to clear out Rondo.

"Danny Ainge wants young studs"! Hmmm . . . So Danny Ainge is JazzGal or Toutbum? Could you be more specific please?

I want Rondo and these are three ways in which I would consider trading for him.

-Jefferson, Harris, Carroll and GS pick for Rondo, O’Neal and Wilcox (Jazz Save 5+ million)
-Millsap, Harris and GS pick for Rondo and O’Neal (Jazz save 1+ million)

Both of these work in the Trade Machine

If Boston wants one of our young guys they have to give up their 1rst pick or the Clippers 1rst pick plus a second round pick. Even then I'm a bit hesitant.

I really don't watch Rondo except when he plays the Jazz, so serious question:
To those who say he can score at will, when he has low scoring games is it because he is not giving effort? Choosing to pass first?

Also looked at the celtics record when he scores. When Rondo scores 20 plus this season, celtics record is 2-4. Shoots 55% (59-107) in those games.
By contrast the celtics are 7-3 when Rondo doesn't score in double figures. (34% 24-78)

It looks like when he "takes over a game" his team does not do well. On the flip-side it makes the argument that when he distributing, he is best. Celtics are 8-3 when he has 10+ assists.

Another question? How does our lack of 3pt shooters affect Rondo's game? Celtics shoot 15.4 3pts/game @ 37.5%. Jazz shoot 12.5 @ 30%. Would we still collapse against the dreaded zone?
