What's new

Dantè quoted "City of Utah"

If I'm about to be employed at $3 mil/year you can bet your *** I'm going to know the city, state, province, etc. of my suitor. It's not like he had to learn more than seven or eight cities and states in a worst case scenario. He must have had zero inclination that he would fall outside the top four. Either that or he had such reservations about coming to Utah that he blocked out anything having to do with us.

He already said as much. That is why he didn't try out for Utah in the first place.

I found it funny and nothing more.

Yeah. Also his camp knew that Utah was prepared to pick him if he dropped as Utah scouting dude organizes the world squad for the hoop summit and was one of the first to hype him.

Next great player to be drafted by the "City of Utah", Dantè Exum! Does he get a pass because he is a foreigner?

Rodney Hood said the same thing in his interview. If someone asked me to distinguish of Australian cities and provinces when I was 19 years old, I would have failed miserably.

Moreover, it is confusing to folks ex-US since most teams are named for cities, so an easy mistake to make.

Clear pass, he is most definitely a smart kid.\

And I was impressed that Rodney Hood seems like he is a very nice kid. Hope we are putting together a humble and selfless team, that still has the instinct to step on opponents throats on the court.

If Utah scouts hyped Exum, that would be a big mistake. If you are going to invest in getting unique knowledge of overseas players, and then blab, how do you ever get a draft "steal"?

I meant hype as within the front office. The dude gave him an instant invite for the hoops summit just hours after finishing a u17 tournament in the summer of 2012.
So I'd say he must have been pretty excited about dante.

Well if I was going there to make millions of dollars I might get to know the landscape but I will give him a pass. Just found it funny.
City of Utah was the last place he expected to get drafted. He and his agent decided NOT to fly in for a workout. I'm sure any geography lessons were spent on learning about Orlando and Philadelphia. He acquitted himself well in the interview with Locke, saying that the new coach was a PG and that they had discussed the ways in which he would be used.

All he needs to do is take a walkabout in the parks of Southern Utah and he'll feel at home. Maybe the Jazz can hire the same tour guide as Gobert and Neto had.

Melbourne looks nothing like Southern Utah!!!!

Sounds more like he said city, then was like "oh **** what city is it" as he stutters, then just went with saying Utah.

I'm stereotyping, since we know all Australians live in the outback and act like Crocodile Dundee.

Locke was his typical "idiotic" self at the end of the interview saying, I hear the worst nickname you've had is "Crocodile D," so we won't call you that. I think he just did.

In respect to his misspeaking...meh.

What amazes me is the off brand quality of most of Utahr's media. Seriously, you upload a video to your local affiliate's youtube station and the audio only comes out the left speaker? Bwahahahahahaha.

Po-dunk SLC.

Most people know the names of cities in Utah?

Guessing basketball prodigies don't have to study their state capitals as much as us common folk

I remember Ogden and Provo but not so sure about them.
