Dante Exum: shoulder injury

Dude, his next paycheck might be his career.
Dante doesn't need to show much to be considered an attractive option in RFA.
A guy with his length and speed!
If he defends the point, averages say 10ppg, 47 fg% (34% from 3), 5.5 assists in about 20 minutes - he will attract oversized contracts - as he will still only be 23 going into next year.

This idea that the Jazz don't have to worry about big offers is only a good argument if they're prepared to pay. A bunch of teams could make offers.

5.5 assists in 20 minutes? Sorry but no. Dude probably wouldn't average that in 30 minutes.

Dante is a injury prone, below average player with above average potential. He's got a great personality and seems to work hard. His new contract would keep me up at night if I was Lindsey.

Last year he averaged 1.7 assists in 18.6 minutes. No reason to think he can't triple his production.
But the real issue is who needs a PG, will have cap space and is willing to pay for Dante to be their #1.

Eastern Conference
Orlando, Chicago. Cleveland if Lebron leaves and they go full rebuild.

Western Conference
Denver maybe (but difficult for them to clear cap space)

I don't see many scenarios for Dante to step in as a starter. And if he's a backup, I don't see any team giving him a huge offer.

If I wasn't such a Dante homer, this would prob be a fair assessment.

I don't think anything he does from now inflates or decreases his RFA value. Even if he does come back and play ok or flops any offer he's going to get will very much be based on what a team think he might become rather than numbers or actual production

TJ Douchebag really sux ballzz

Why a bad guess. After your comment I was expecting to read they had decided on surgery but then I found no decision has been made yet, at least none reported here.

You can see people walking around on ACL tears a few days after they happen.

But not "worst case" ACL tears. The lack of a sling means something as far as the severity goes, but it doesn't mean he will not have surgery.

I dont know about worst case, but on cases that will require surgery, yes.

All that happens is ligament damage that makes the muscles unstable. If you are just walking around and not putting any stress on them you arent in danger of further injuring them.

Most people can walk on a complete ACL tear after a day or two.

A simple ACL tear is not "worst case." Like I said, the fact that Exum is not wearing a sling brings us down from quite a few horrible possibilities, but there are still plenty "pretty bad" options still in play.

Worst case with an ACL, yes. Maybe you mean worse case with a knee? There is nothing worse than tearing it all the way through. Torn all the way through you can still walk. An ACL is not needed to walk. In fact some people dont have them at all. That is probably worse case. Some have become high level athletes without ACL's.

Personally I walked the day after snapping my ACL completely, my MCL and doing serious damage to my meniscus. It was worse case scenario and I walked on in for about 6 months before surgery.

I think the biggest point that goes over heads is OPPORTUNITY. I have no doubt that Dante could rack up assists with the ball in his hands. Sitting in the corner on every possession, not so much. Sure the argument is if he was good enough (ball handling) to man the offense he would and that may be true. I know it may seem unconventional but I still think Exum is a prospect and a prospect worth hanging on to.
