I'm loving the number choice for both of these guys.

In most cases, I have grown to hate the idea of retiring numbers for players. I've seen Exum wear both 7 and 14, but Pete Maravich and Jeff Hornacek have taken those numbers off the table, so he's 11. I have no issue with 11, but if Exum would prefer 7 or 14, why not? I'd like to see teams hang a banner honoring a player, but leave the number available. If I had to, I'd only retire the numbers of true NBA greats, like maybe hall of famers. Maybe even more exclusive.

But I ask you, if the Jazz hung a banner for Horny and Maravich (who hardly played in Utah BTW), would it be so bad to let Exum use one of those numbers?

Hood is a different story. I assume he'd prefer 5, but JLIII had it first. Maybe if JLIII disappears (via waiver or trade, I'm not planning anything illegal), Hood will change it up like Burke did last year after Carroll left.

Couldn't agree more. 32 and 12 are the only numbers that shouldn't be available to current/future Jazz players.

IIRC, and somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but in at least one of the games or highlights I've seen of Exum, he's wearing #11. So that may be his preferred number among those he's worn.

I disagree with not retiring Maravich's number. He was the face of the franchise and a great, great player. When the Jazz came to Utah they didn't leave the history behind. If that were the case then the Jazz name should have remained.

I agree. Love Hornacek but his jersey being retired is ridiculous. Same with Eaton. The only other guy who deserves it is Dantley. He was the best player on the team and really the only reason to watch the Jazz when they came to SLC. I think you have to be the best or second best player on your team, years played, and MVP/Scoring title or record holders should be in the rafters.

1. Maravich played only 5+ seasons with the Jazz. The team averaged 32 wins over those 5 seasons.

2. Better case for Dantley, although if you're keeping it to all-time, Jazz lifers/HOF-caliber players, you can keep his number in circulation. Stockton and Malone set the standard, were (virtually) Jazz lifers and Hall-of-Famers. Everyone else is a large step below.
