Davies off the BYU Bball team- Honor Code Violation

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to JazzSpazz again.

But seriously, why was I not informed?

Looks like this Davies chap was too busy filling the passing lanes off the court.

And working on his inside scoring.

Utah should draft this guy instead of Jimmer. I heard he's great at coming from behind.

Seriously, though, as a Ute fan, I usually take every opportunity I get to RIP on the cougars.

Not this time. Chance for a #1 seed comes almost never.

Whatever, I really had no doubt BYU would stumble in the tournament, but at least they deserved the chance to prove everyone wrong.

Now, it's just a lame excuse for losing. Again, whatever, but I have to wonder how many players have had a cup of coffee or tea. Or pre-marital sex.

Seriously, the players that arn't married should at least be gettin' some head. Good for their game..

..a code that also forbids use of alcohol and coffee and requires students to be honest and attend church regularly.

What's wrong with coffee?

Does this apply to any other drink whose main ingredient is a natural source of caffeine? (tea, hot chocolate)

And I always thought the LDS church advised against caffeine but never really forbade it. Is that true? If so, why put something trivial like that in their honor code?

I really have to hand it to Dave Rose, Bronco Mendenhall, and their staffs for being able to recruit the kids that they do. I seriously have no idea how they ever get any non-mormon kids to commit to their programs.

I agree. I have nothing against the LDS church but I would never want to go to a school where I had to sign something like that. To be fair I would never want to go to a strict Catholic school either.

This whole can of worms would be a thread unto itself, if not a whole new forum.

BYU is getting their butt hair braided by New Mexico right now. So much for them making a run for it in the tourney. I know it's just one game, but dang, talk about a totally different looking team.

I would think that being the one to braid the butt-hair would mean you lost. And lost big.

Amare Stoudemire takes a whack at BYU.

According to the New York Daily News, the Knicks forward used his Twitter account to voice support for BYU's dismissed center Brandon Davies.

Stoudemire criticized BYU for kicking Davies off of their NCAA tournament-bound men's basketball team after he admitted to having premarital sex with his girlfriend.

"Dont ever go to BYU, they kick a Young Educated (Black)Brother OUT OF SCHOOL," Stoudemire tweeted. "The kid had premarital sex. Not suspended, Not Release. Wow!"

Davies violated the school's honor code that forbids sex before marriage, but Stoudemire said he thinks the sophomore forward's punishment is too harsh.

"P.S.With his girlfriend," he added. "Come on BYU don't kick the kid out of school. Let's be honest he is n college. Let's the kid live a little."

Maybe he didn't have the whole picture and now knows the backstory about the Honor Code.

Could be - I honestly thought the thing was hacked at first because Twitter is notoriously easy to hack. But generally, I think most people are reasonably smart so I assume, even him knowing nothing about BYU, that he at least had the mental ability to make the connection between somebody getting kicked off the team(suspended?) for having sex and that school having a rule against having sex. Seems pretty simple.

Wow, this thread paints a pretty clear picture of ignorance.

FYI, I think a thread would generally be used in a weave of some sort, paints would be used in paintings, and pictures most likely will come through a camera of some sort. You are saying those are the sorts of classes you can take at BYU. I think Conan was trying to say you would have to take the expresso drinking, and armed robbery classes at the U. I could be wrong?
