Like I said it before, when it comes down to the big time show, when it really matters, when the best play(regardless of age!) we rule... we have 5 world cups and we're about to get one more in 2014.
Spain will bitchslap you on your own soil

Beckerman to me looked like a holding mid-fielder. And when he plays that far back it widens the defense which gave Mexico chances up the middle. Beckerman is just doing his job but I think Jurge needs to use a different setup with him in there.Yeah I watched it as well definitely was a shocker, question for the more experienced soccer fan since I'm just a newer casual fan or even less to the game. To me Beckerman played pretty well, I think I noticed a few mistakes early on but then the whole team was that way and played IMO ultra conservative, I'd guess it was the game plan. But anyway he seemed to play his position and what he was asked very well and was the pass that lead to the pass type of guy, any other opinions?
Anybody here ever been to Estadio Azteca? I hate soccer as much as the next true blooded American, but seeing a game there is definitely on my travel want to do list. Looks badass.
Good to know that you think National pride in the Olympics does not count.
We like the olympics... of course I root for Brazil to win every sport in the olympic games, soccer included, but when it comes to soccer, if I have to choose winning the Olympic games or the world cup, I choose the WC.
Brazilian people like soccer so much, because we're good at it... for instance, if we loose the world cup, we get mad, but if we loose the archery competition we don't care as much.
Yeah I want to go to a nice stadium and see a high enery game. I bet it is insane.
I guess this is where we disagree. No reason you "have to" choose. If you are unable to train and compete for both that underminds your theme of the Brazilians being the best.
The difference is when you win the olympics, that doesn't make you the best in the world, on the other hand, winning the WC does. So, Spain have the bragging rights right now :-s

Was there really a soccer age limit? I swear I remember reading an article about David Beckham being left off team Great Britian being a mild controversy or something recently. I don't like it for any sport. Olympics to me means best in the world and that's who I want to see compete, regardless if one team that might be overly dominate in certain years or the supposed wear and tear on professional players, or whatever the argument for age limits are.
Each team gets to have a couple dudes over the age limit I think.
I hate to say it, but I agree with this. Olympics is 21 yrs. and below. From a pure sport perspective, World Cup is the supreme. Olympics is pretty cool, but if the World Cup was any other format besides country vs. country, I'd say the Olympics would have it.
No reason to hate to say it. It's true, the best players play in the World Cup/Euro Cup. However, the national teams normally do not have the cohesiveness of club teams. I would argue that the elite club soccer is the technically the best soccer played in the world. Yet, it doesn't have the emotions running through it like the World Cup provides. The World Cup is in a class by itself.
