Game Thread Dec 02, 2022 07:00PM MT: Jazz vs Pacers

Added to Calendar: 12-02-22

Will be a tough one. Indiana are not good but pretty solid. Any news when Mike is coming back? Offense is not the same without him and we can't rely on JC beeing hot every night. Go Jazz!!

This years Pacers are no joke. Haliburton is a revelation, Mathurin is the second best guy in this rookie class thus far (assuming Bancheros start to the season wasnt a flash in the pan) and Hield can still get hot from 3 (albeit he has some absolute stinkers this year as well). Not to mention Myles Turner who has been streaky this year but averages a solid 17PPG. They are one of the few teams in the league who throw even more 3s than we do, albeit on a slightly lower clip. But they are still good.

Should be an interesting matchup. They rank bottom 5 in paint point % so thats a good thing for us as we suck defending the paint... however our other weakness defensively is fast break points which Pacers score at the 2nd highest rate. We give a lot of turnovers and are horrible in organizing our fast break defense... so that might bite us tonight.

If we contest their 3s consistently and get them to take some bad throws, we should have a solid chance to beat them.

I just realized I won't be able to watch this game since I live in Indiana and the game will be blacked out on League Pass. I miss HeHe.

Why is it blacked out? The game is in Utah.

Nvm, I googled it... its local TV rights thing. I didn't know that. Only knew about the blackouts that occur after a local game is not sold out.

Yeah, it makes sense why they do it, but I still don't have to like it. I was in Utah last week for Thanksgiving and couldn't watch a lot of games last week either. There have been other times I've randomly been traveling within the TV radius of the Jazz's opponent and not been able to watch either.

Welcome to my world. I deal with this every game since I technically live in the Jazz market and my provider doesn't carry the AT&T channel.

Yeah I have LP on amazon and whenever we play a California team I cannot get the game. Which is really stupid when it is GSW or Sac. I live in the LA area. Even then, LP should mean I get every game regardless of where I live. I pay for it after all. Blackout rules like that are just stupid.

No casinos with big sports books near your home? If you can find one with individual viewing booths, it’s an awesome cheap alternative.

I have League Pass as well here in Vegas and for some unknown reason the only California team I can get is Golden State. But I get the Los Angeles teams on their home affiliate with my cable package. That leaves Sacramento which I have to go to my local casino to watch.

California won’t even pass online sports betting.

I was once at a work retreat at a bowling alley. They asked for drinks and everyone was ordering beer. They laughed when I ordered strawberry lemonade. I imagine if you go into a casino and ask for an “individual viewing booth” and say you’re “watching sports” probably gets you the same response.
