We're definitely the worst team in the league at defending the point of attack, and/or shot-happy combo guards. It's like we don't understand how to guard those guys. We try to go over the high screens, yes, but we fail to stay in contact with the ballhandler. Guys are just going through the motions. Sure they try to look like they're playing fierce lockdown D when it's 1-on-1 out in the backcourt, but it's almost like the arrival of a screen is a signal that they can let up a bit.

Dudes like Russell only need a sliver of daylight and the ball is going up. Everybody in the building knows it. I just think the guards need to fight through the screen much more aggressively (and if it's a moving screen at the point of attack like it often is, ****ing FLOP when you're going around it) AND the bigs can't be so low in the drop. Bottom line is, we have to bother the ballhandler much more for it to have any effect. Sure it leads to rotating like hell from the wing and all kinds of scrambling when the pass to the roller comes, but for a team like this, there's no substitute for heady rotating and good anticipation anyway. That's how our defense looked quite passable to start the season. For some reason, that kind of effort is gone now. We're swiping at the ball, getting burned by backdoow cuts, falling asleep on the weak side.

I guess our guys have seen the same stats we have - the offense is still humming, so they think they don't HAVE to play defense. The problem is, we've lost 10 of 15 and it's mainly because we can't guard anyone in the backcourt or the perimeter. Kessler gets blocks but he's not at a point where we can just funnel ballhandlers toward him. He pretty much stays in the "hole" and waits. Meanwhile, opposing guards are scoring on open midrange jumpers like they're layups.

Have to get back to playing team defense and get everyone on the same page.
Conley + Clarkson played 12.5 minutes together and were -15.

NAW + Clarkson was +2 in 23.5 minutes. Likewise, Conley + THT was +1 in 10.5 minutes (Conley + NAW +2 in limited minutes).

BPM isnt the greatest stat, but Clarkson and Conley were negative in BPM in every 2 player lineup without either NAW or THT.

We are missing Sexton defensive energy and effort, even if he isnt fundamentally great defender.

Too bad THT is borderline unplayable on offense.

IMO, it's not about missing any one guy or having to play someone who shouldn't be playing. Sure there are weak links, but this is about the overall commitment to team defense. As in, there isn't any.

Isnt any is a bit harsh. I think JC was spending more energy on the offensive end due to Lauri and Sexton being out and that translated to his defense. He hasnt been a great defender at any point of his career afaik but usually he is not a complete sieve either.

Conley at 35 on the other hand gets beaten alot simply because of athleticism reasons and cannot be expected to cover for anyone else either.

JC needs to spend more energy on defense and cut down his driving if he is playing with Mike. There really is no other way.

And it makes sense. If Mike and JC both pass a lot it should kerp our offense powered even without JC solo stuff.

When Mike is off, its a different ballgame for JC as well. Gotta create for himself as well. But then its usually NAW or THT with him who can cover for him onnthe other end.

I went to this one, some random thoughts:
-Noticed Rudy G was up out of his chair and moving around anxiously during timeouts early in the game. It must be crazy coming back to the place you called home for so long and he probably had to get the jitterbugs out
- I was super bummed that Lauri didnt play tonight, think it could have been the difference between winning and losing
- The standing O to Rudy was really cool, was glad to experience it
- On the same note potshots fans take at Rudy during the game go from from mild to straight up bizarre. Noticed it when Memo came back as well. Do other teams fans do this?
- Seeing defensive mistakes happen live in person is worse than tv, we got major issues at that end.
- Brittney Griner was reportedly boo'd though I didnt hear any, it was more neutral than anything.
- Crumbl cookies are like crack to jazz fans. The guy next to me got up and screamed at the top of his lungs like a crazed animal for a chance at a cookie, he didnt get one.
Crumbl makes me sick every time. Even if I just eat half a cookie, they never settle well. Too rich or something. I’d rather just get a cookie from Maceys or a big pack from Costco for half the price.

He was good tonight. G league isn’t really his spot. His numbers aren’t good there and obviously I’d rather he be dominating down there but it’s not a place for a 3 and D role player to shine.
Ehhhhhhhh, I hope so, but all the signs are bad on Ochai currently

It was good to have Mike back. He didn't look like he was hobbled or anything, so that's good.

I think there are a lot of games in a row now where NAW looked like an NBA rotation player. I'm not sure what our future plans are with him, and don't care that much, but it's been good to see.

I think Rudy, and maybe the whole Wolves team looks more comfortable with KAT out. They lose a lot of talent, but look way better. I said this when they made the trade for Rudy, but I would try and move KAT for some better fitting pieces.

I thought we played pretty well, just a shooting variance game.

Yes, insanely overrated. They are just a highly over-sweetened extra thick sugar cookie. I cannot believe how popular they are. But what's funny is I always see a line there, but I don't know anyone who likes them. But they have been given to us as a gift for one reason or another maybe 6 or 8 times in the last couple of years. So are most people just giving them as gifts? Weird.

The wolves would be 100x better if they made Rudy their prime time big and traded KAT for a bunch of shooters.

You obviously never been high as **** at midnight.

I got them for the first time a week ago and I thought they were pretty good as far delivery cookies go.

Not a very big fan of either cookie place. How thick it is ruins the consistency of what it should be. And they’re too vanilla-y. As Thriller said, Costco chocolate chunk cookies are where it’s at. Those are probably the best cookies you can buy, within reason, perhaps ever.

Only respond if you’ve tried them.

I've never tried them but I thought I better respond because I have a strong opinion about those cookies.
