It definitely put a damper on the "maybe he could play a few meaningful minutes" idea.

He did... got a couple sneaky blocks because guys didn't expect him to come out there. As a backup I think I'm fine with him on the defensive end. He was a cat chasing a laser pointer but that is to be expected as a rookie and with the adrenaline. It was impressive that he got to the two shots he did. I think he'd learn when to go and when to hang back with regular minutes... it was a big improvement over TB who would weakly foul guys at the rim so that they can get an And 1. Even if he contests hard it makes the defense make another pass which is an opportunity for a turnover... either from the team rotating or just the big ****ing up.

Overall I was encouraged... Was worried that being enormous in college doesn't translate as well when everyone is enormous but it looks like it does for him. Not that it should be the measuring stick, but if we did have to rely on him for 10-15 minutes a night I'm really confident it will better than it did for Tony last year.

Hopefully Juwan Morgan balls out again and takes all Niang's minutes.

Was nice to see him shoot some non-corner threes. I think he might end up being better above the break than from the corner.

Royce's was worded funny. Something about protocols... I think there are different levels of eligibility for practice and games if you've had exposure. IDK but its good to get the young guys some run anyway.
