What's new

Game Thread Dec 15, 2021 08:00PM MT: Jazz vs. Clippers

Added to Calendar: 12-15-21

They scored with ease?? They scored 103 points. They scored 44 points in the second half. This is what they do. Stop flapping your butt cheeks!! Idiot
They shot 47 percent and scored over 100 pts despite missing Batum, George, and Kawhi. If this is “what they do” then we’re going to struggle to beat them in the playoffs once 2/3 of those above are back in the lineup.

“Flapping my butt cheeks?”

What’s that supposed to mean? Not sure I’ve ever heard of this before. Is this supposed to make sense? Is it supposed to be homophobic? I don’t get what you’re trying to say here.

I'm sorry but the iso nba and 40+3's a night is legit boring. I use to watch so much basketball and now it's a struggle to watch most games.

Very often efficiency is boring. It's chaos that's exciting.

I’m betting they didn’t shoot that well in the second half. This has been par for the course over this winning streak. They still have guys that can score in a lot of different ways. They couldn’t hang in the second, but no one on this 8 game streak has been able to hang around past the first half. And you heard what I said you butt cheek flapper. I use this phrase all the time, usually at you I think, you flapper of the butt cheeks.

I had to watch the game delayed because obviously it was Survivor finale night. I know you all know.

Anyway, it was obvious the Jazz really wanted this one. Top to bottom the team tried much harder than they did in game 3 of the second round last year. So that was fun.

I’ve never seen that phrase. I still don’t know what you’re trying to say. Do you talk this big in person or only on the internet?

Do you like coins or bars best?

The cheapest bouillon I can get at the time. I try to get them uniform as much as I can so they stack better. But I'm not that picky. I do collect coins but that's different.

Except Joe. Joe looked drunk.

I watched the replay.

The inevitable Jazz offense is back. May be even more potent than last year. it seems to me that Jazz are more aware of tertiary actions on sets. The way the Jazz generate open shots is ridiculous and with the league going in the direction of shotmaking, Mitchell is creating tons of little advantages on offense. It's the first time I really felt that he is making others around him better, not consistently but enough.

Clarkson also has been more aware. He made some quick passes that started the ball movement which was nice but also held on to the ball when defense was scrambling which shifted the defense with the threat of the pass and opened a path for him. I am not sure that was intentional but felt like it was.

Quick trigger Bojan never misses. That's just a thing.

I have now more faith in Royce in transition than me not falling asleep waiting for games.

Rudy was aggressive so was Hassan.

Defense faltered at times, especially Mitchell had some egregious breakdowns but they didn't punish us. Also had some quality shot making but this game doesn't instill confidence in me defensively considering that they didn't go 5-out.

Was a good game all around. Still not a fan of us being a "second half team". I hope we learn to get going earlier and simply assert our dominance in the first half. But it's hard to argue with a string of 20-point victories behind you and an easy schedule in front. Hope we don't start coasting.

Marcus Morris actually had a very accurate comment on the Jazz defense:

Ya i was listening to guys on the radio on my drive home talk about this and they were basically saying that if you have the best defensive player of all time on your team then its proabably the right strategy to run the opponents off the three point line and funnel everything to the GOAT.
Jazz are great at not allowing three point shots, are great at not allowing points in the paint, and are great at keeping teams off the free throw line. They are one of the best defensive teams in the league. This is a good thing. (They are also pretty good on offense)
