Game Thread Dec 15, 2022 07:00PM MT: Jazz vs. Pelicans

Added to Calendar: 12-15-22

Wow... first we play an ugly game where both teams look like they cant hit the ocean with a stone thrown from a boat and then 2 days later we get this game where both teams just hit everything and the game looks so much better.

As much as I usually whine about JC doing "his thing"... this time I gotta suck it up. Not because he was successful (it wont be 66% of the time), but because Conley and KO just couldn't do anything positive with the ball in the 1st half so we really needed this version of JC this time around. Second half was more balanced from us offensively but ngl I was terrified midway through how it would turn out.

Also about JC, I loved to see him actually swish those 3s.. not just hit them. Hearing that sound builds confidende. Hopefully this was a turning point, instead of an outlier.

The tale of two free throw shooters.... Lauri getting to the line 10 times and hitting all 10 was so great to see. He has struggled some with his FT. But wth was up with Conley on the stripe... especially in OT with a 3 point lead?

Walker Kessler was huge for us in the closing stretch. I'm mad they robbed him 2 points for that bogus foul in OT. Wanted to see him slam that down in their faces. Happy that Hardy used his challenge to right the wrong though.

Mike is definitly the conductor of the team. The way he manage the crutch is just perfect. Defense, passing. I do undertand we may trade him but if we do, the second part of the season will not be the same.

I thought that the Pelicans should have gotten in on the Donovan sweepstakes, I think I might have been right. They could be the front runners with Donovan vs CJ. On the other hand they probably would have included this year's Lakers pick which might turn in to Wemby, so maybe not.

This years pick is definitely an outlier for all of these teams who own other team's picks. That Lakers pick could completely change the future of the league. As could the Minny pick. As good as the Pels are, imagine adding Wemby, or hell any of the projected top 10 guys out there to their already stacked team. Yikes. And if we can keep this Jazz team mostly intact, and add Wemby, well good luck Western Conference, or again, adding almost any of the projected top 10 this year.

Also, how many teams now are within like what, 5 games of each other? Almost all of them? Damn.

It is wild to see all the story-lines playing out this year.

Don't forget they were without arguably their best player in Ingram. Once Ingram is back I would say they are clearly the frontrunners in the west. They are also built to defend any team with Ingram, Williamson, Herb Jones, Trey Mitchell, Marshall and Daniels being so interchangeable. We need to take a page out of their book when building our team and focus on adding a ton of big wings like them.

I dont think the West has any front runners.

Western Conference is kind of *** compared to the East in terms of top tier teams.
