Id rather have him as a backup PG than Price or Gaines, but his bipolar issues are troubling.

It would be a gamble, but at the vet minimum, it would be worth it. He's a lot better than Price or Gaines. Good defender, ball handler, can create his own shot, and can hit the three. It would be good for the Jazz to at least bring him in and have a conversation. Discuss his issues and see if he's willing to work within the limits Jerry prescribes.

You summed it up right here. Price and Gains are not qualified to sniff West's jock strap after a hard practice. Basketball-wise, it would be a very good addition. Right now back-up PG spot is out weakest link. With West, all of the sudden, it is a big strength. We will have one of the best benches in the League. West, Memo, Bell (AK), Hayward. That's nothing to sneeze at. And think of West as alternative to Gains. There is simply no comparison there. The only problem is off the court troubles, which is something that Utah management looks at very seriously. But hey, we have a chance to solidify our weakest spot with a very good player because of it. We don't have money now, and this is a chance to buy a good player low. On the other hand we don't want West to shoot DWill if he does not like something. Perhaps it is worth to take a closer look at West's off court troubles to see if this is something we can take a risk on. For a minimum salary, if anything negative happens, we can just waive the guy. I mean guys like Gains can be picked up at any time.

Is a free agent. Would he be an awesome bench player (as a 1 or 2), or would he cause problems?

I am of the opinion that for a cheap price-tag, he'd be awesome to have. His off-court problems are well-documented, but I've never heard of him disrupting chemistry on the court or in the locker room (isn't that all that ultimately matters when it comes to character concerns?). He's certainly not a real starter, but he has size, shooting, passing, and defensive ability to more than adequately come off the bench and make a positive difference.

Absolutely. His nutty off-court crap notwithstanding, I've never heard of him disrupting his team on the court or in the locker room. He's 10x the player Price or Gaines are.

In the first place what are the chances he would come to Utah for the absolute minimum we could pay him? Secondly, he is much more of a shooting guard than a point guard and shot 32% from threes. Also how well do you think he would get along with Sloan. He would add to the gun collection in Utah though.

This guy's as big a head case as Kirilenko crying, and Ron ron going into the stands and hitting a fan. He's just a little smarter and withdraws when he has issues instead of bringing them up with the team.

Ugliest guy in the league. No Way! Can't have AK and him on the same team.
