Are these monkey t-shirts the Kings were handing out racially insensitive?

Lmfao. I don't have a problem with monkey shirts for the Chinese year if that's clearly what it is for. But to do them in February was pretty damn dumb.

Bruh.....

A monkey wasnt a symbol of racism. Yes, it can be used as a racial slur, but it's not the same as a symbol like the swastika or a confederate flag.
 
It'd be okay if the monkey wore a swastika. Then it would remind no one of racial slurs, as no black person would wear such a thing.

Also, I find it hilarious that monkeys are now off-limit.

dudes, the Chinese-American and Chinese immigrant populations throughout California is SUBSTANTIAL. My neighborhood is getting ready to go full-time party mode right now. Totally relevant T-shirt here.
 
I'd say the only mistake, and it's extremely minor, is that they issued the shirt on Feb. 1st. The Chinese new year starts on the 8th. Black history month starts on the 1st. Issue the shirt a little closer to the 8th.

It's a pretty decent looking shirt for what it is.

Yeah, that is the only thing. I'm someone who tends to lean on the side of racial sensitivity too, but this is just ridiculous.

The shirt looks pretty cool too.

They also don't have a home game on the 8th or anywhere close to it. Their next home game is the 3rd and the next one after that is the 24th.

So, let me get this straight... DeMarcus's ignorance on another culture trumps the actual meaning of the Chinese calendar? I wonder how the Chinese feel about this? Racist? Smh...
 
I now have to remember not to give my son anything with a monkey on it during the month of February.
