What's new

Deron is coming back to Utah.

No way GSW does this. Thompson is their only beacon of light this season and to them he's as good a player as last year's #5 pick. I think he's akin to the Jazz and Hayward, in other words, untouchable.

Yeah, it's fantasy. Anyhow, do you think GS is desperate enough? Imagine, after all the crap they have put out, all the tanking, if they lost their pick. This Jazz trade allows them to save face, by getting their #1 back, getting a #1 next year, another pick (second round) plus a solid (ok, he isn't solid, but they can sell him as solid) SG to pair with Curry, Lee and Bogut. I dunno. It isn't as crazy at it seems at first. BUT, GS has to lose their pick, and their GM needs to be desperate.

This would be KOC fulfilling his promise to make GS "pay" for that pick after leaking it to the press.

If we do get our pick back I'd rather go with either Marshall or Lillard....

Not me. Thompson is somewhat of a known commodity. The pg's are not. Plus, isn't Marshall's biggest knock that he can't shoot? Thompson fills a need the Jazz desperately need.

Deron is on his way for Dallas and as it is being said, GSW will have huge chance for getting jason kidd and let Curry play the 2.

After Dallas' embarrassing home loss to OKC and what looks to be a quick out of the playoffs, Deron is going to look awfully good to them.

Maybe I can offer some perspective. I am a big time Memo homer and a proud KOC homer.

The Memo extension was RIDICULOUS.

Memo was coming off one of his best years. He scored 40+ in a game and set an NBA record for 3pt shooting in the month of February (better than Jeff Hornacek, Ray Allen and Reggie Miller. He was having a great year.)

That being said, he was getting older. Why would you pay him more when his game was going to decline!???? It makes no sense to me why the NBA designs contracts that way. Why does Kobe Bryant make more money now that he's older and slower and less dominant?! WHY!!!!!!!

I was happy to hear that KOC extended Memo's contract, but I had no clue why he was offering so much money. Why not offer him $9 million and then $8 million??? or 8 and then 7???

Uh, the NBA didn't design contracts that way. The Jazz and the Lakers did respectively.

If a team doesn't want to overpay, they shouldn't.

If Deron comes back then I am buying beers for every single person on JazzFanz, and Ill make Mantooth give out free hand jobs

This is one of the dumbest threads I have ever read on the internet. Amazing how many Jazz fans actually have taken it seriously.

There is no way in hell the Jazz would resign Deron, and there is no way in hell Deron would even think for a second of coming back. If Deron wanted to be in Utah long term, he would have never been traded in the first place as he would have signed an extension.

Grow up Jazz fans. I am a Jazz fan and usually respect the intelligence of our fanbase, but this thread is beyond crazy. Get over Dwill. We had some good years with him, but there is a better chance the Jazz come back from an 0-3 hole and beat the Spurs than there is Dwill playing another game as a member of the Jazz.

Let's try and show some intelligence by not starting idiotic threads like these, and even more intelligence by going along with them. The Dwill era in Utah ended last year. He has zero interest in coming back to Utah, and the Jazz have zero interest in bringing him in.

Deron to his hometown Dallas might be dynamite for jerseys.

But...

If this season proved anything, it is good defensive bigs are unbelievably important. Especially if you already have plenty of offense (with players who struggle defensively... like Dirk).

Dallas without Deshawn and most importantly, without Tyson Chandler, didn't even represent a shadow of the kind of defense that propelled them to the championship last year.

Cuban's offseason plan last summer was one of the worst in recent memory. Letting Tyson Chandler leave might have been thee worst move in Dallas franchise history.

Is there any way Cuban can get a refund on letting Tyson go? A dominate defensive big like Tyson Chandler improves the Mavs far more than Deron would.

And there was no reason for the Jazz to commit longer than they had to at that point. Memo was under contract for another year, and the Jazz would simply be lucky if he played himself into a larger contract...

No argument here. Outside of Dirk, Chandler was by far their most important piece. Deron will get them a few more wins a year, and probably to the second round, but that's it. Cuban will still max him though because bringing in a hometown boy will do wonders for ticket prices and jersey sales.

You forgot the part where they sign Dwight Howard the following season.

Cuban is the GM? I know Cuban has a lot of say-so, but he still relies on the people he hires to make the decisions. I never really got the feeling Cuban fancies himself a Jerry Jones type owner, just a huge mega fan who is willing to spend money.

I think it was pretty stupid too, for the Mavs to break that thing up. Cmon Cubin you were already at the top. What more do you want? Plus you seemed to have Miami's number, and they were the team to beat. Just really stupid. They should have rode that thing out. It was a good team. They would have had a legit shot to repeat.

Hindsight's a good thing...

But there's a difference between: (Dirk + aging Kid + Chandler) vs (Dirk + DWill + Howard).

They rolled the dice... they could still pull off DWill at least...
